We were booked into Room 9 by our travel agent. On the plus side, the bathroom was modern and efficient. The bed was reasonably comfortable, and we didn't note any bed bugs. Also, we didn't have to climb over each other to get into the bed (as they room 3 occupants did). On the down side, we barely fit in the room -- there was space only for the bed and a wardrobe. From looking at pic of the outside of the building, we figured this couldn't be bad. Surprise Surprise. The building is an office building with Pension Riedl occupying part of the 4th floor. While we were there, we saw Room 10 -- which the folks from Scotland enjoyed very much -- and it was very spacious and inviting. If you want to stay here, that's the room I'd recommend.

Breakfast was just OK. Not much variety and basic grocery store fare. The lobby is tired, dingy, and frankly ugly. No place to hang out if your room is as small as ours was. They did provide us with free internet -- which worked fine.

Location is so-so. We could walk to the main streets and attractions, but it was a good hike.
I guess it all depends on what you are willing to pay. We were willing to spend a little more, and our travel agent didn't do a good job with this booking.

When my husband and I booked this we were a little anxious as they gave us instructions how to get in to the hotel like something out a spy movie!!! We were in room 10 and when we opened the door from the outside we were both amazed at the size of the room - it was massive - it was like an apartment. The room and bathroom were very clean and the hugh rain shower we had in the bathroom was brill. We can not fault this hotel at all and through our travel around Europe last month we both agreed this was the best hotel room we stayed in over 9 cities.....

We stayed in room 3, just like Sue'n'Pete and when we arrived, we were shocked when we saw our room. It was nothing like what we saw on their official website. The room is very small. This room isn't suitable for 2 travellers. We had 2 luggages and there was hardly and space to put them. The condition or the room and the furnishing was poor. It definately doesn't deserve a 3 star rating. The best part was the bathroom. Due to poor piping, every time you flush the toilet, some water would splash up the shower drain from the toilet bowl, we found that very disgusting. One side of the double bed is against the wall so one person has to climb over another person as mentioned by sue'n'pete, pretty inconvenient. We find their photos on their official very misleading compare to what we got. I would not recommend this pension, just incase you get something like us.

However, Vienna is a beautiful city. We definitely didn't let our accommodation ruin our trip. We had a great time out in the city.

Having read their website - this pension looked quite promising (albeit some tripadvisor reviewer comments did make me wonder). My initial email was responded to quite quickly & was informative. On arrival, all looked quite good - a beautiful building in a quite area. Then after arrival in the actual pension, we began to have some doubts. 'Mine host' took us to our room (No 3) which had an external door that you would be unable to open if your neighbour had opened their door! He gave me 3 keys & left without a word. On looking at this room it was no wonder: Very small (so cases on top of the wardrobe - led me to find a few months worth of dust), Very cheap furniture & with the wiring around the room & under the bed = Dodgy is an understatement! The en-suite shower / loo was at best from a caravan & just as noisy & also Very small. There was no air-con - not even a fan! On asking, Mine Host said no other rooms were available & as we were very tired after a long train journey, we decided after a meal out that we would only stay the one night (albeit we'd paid for 4), in a bed that one had to climb over each other. We left the next day very disappointed (However we did get some money back via the travel agents in due course).
I cannot comment on the renovated rooms but would NOT recommend these 'cheaper' rooms to anyone. Had we known this was what we were getting (rather than the pictured website rooms), there is no way we would have even considered this pension. 3 stars - Not with this room & Not in our book! We cannot recommend this pension .. However, Vienna is well worth the visit & we would definitely go to this city again.
