“One of the best hotel i've been”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We had been in the Mercure Josefshof in August 2010 with a special price offer from Accor Hotel company. The hotel is exellent located, just few steps from the Ring just behind the Rathaus. The metro stop is also very close. The room was really great, very clean and warm, even if not very big. The buffet breakfast was incredibly various and always full of stuff. The service was also very welcome and helpful. We will be back here for sure when in Wien again.

“Old fashioned hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

This hotel is an old fashioned one located in the museum quarter. The position is nice but I think 4 stars for this hotel are too much. Old furnitures, few extra services, people working here were not always kind and helpful. It is clean and cheap compared to Wien average and position. I suggest this hotel just if the price is a priority for you and you like old fashioned hotel.

“Nice hotel, not so great location”

Our family of 2 adults and 4 kids stayed her for 2 nights just before Christmas in 2011. Newly renovated rooms were lovely and comfortable - possibly the most comfortable hotel rooms on our month long European holiday. Breakfast was exceptional, staff quite friendly but very efficient. The only 'fly in the ointment' was a very cranky lady who appeared to be a supervisor of some sort, rampaging around the breakfast room, reprimanding and upsetting the waitstaff (who were very welcoming and appeared to be doing a good job)and generally creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. Otherwise was a nice property to stay in. Location not ideal for us, though as we found it quite difficult on both nights to find cafe or restaurant that was family friendly and within walking distance of the hotel. Good location for Christmas Markets at Rathaus, however.

“Good for toddlers - central & nice part of town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I had my family (husband & toddler) with me on a 4-day business trip. We selected the hotel for its location and were pleasantly surprised by the hipness of the local area. We had the Superior room, which was elegantly and recently refurbished. The lobby area was large, with a small bar and a more lavish sitting area for playing around, doing puzzles etc. As it was Winter we could even store some milk on the window sill. The breakfast was way overpriced, but we found a couple of local goodies in the area that were kid firendly:

Brunch: Cafe der Provinz on Maria-Treu-Gasse 3 - which is a "bio" cafe with some of the best pancakes around (you'll need to book ahead on the weekends)

Restaurant: Right around the corner is Il Sesante on Piaristengasse 50, a great Italian restaurant with a huge seating area, so no problems getting a table last minute for us on a Saturday night.

Just down the road from the hotel on Lange Gasse are various supermarkets with good pick up & go breakfast and lunch options.

The combined package of easy to get there by public transport, interesting local area, and easy food options made the rest of the time a treat for my partner who trotted around town sight seeing with the toddler.

The hotel negatives as are spotted elsewhere: wireless is not worth the trouble and only one business computer.
