My partner and I stayed here for four nights, during which it was her 30th birthday. I contacted the hotel a couple of weeks prior to the trip to ask if they could provide a birthday cake on her actual birthday. I spoke to Christa who was absolutely brilliant and arranged to have a sachertorte presented at breakfast. Throughout the entire trip the staff were excellent, they maintained great professionalism accompanied with a very friendly and accommodating service.
We stayed in a spacious room on the 5th floor, with amazing views of the museum quarter, including both the history and art museums, Hofburg Palace and even Stephansplatz in the distance. It was all very clean and despite the freezing cold temperatures outside it was always very cozy and warm, especially with the underfloor heating in the bathroom which I loved.
As mentioned in the other reviews, the breakfast is amazing! It has such a wide selection of food available, and as vegetarians we were very impressed by the way in which all the hot food was managed, by having the veggie and meat products split into different containers. Also the sachertorte was delicious!
The location was truly excellent, the street was very quiet yet just a few minutes walk from the middle of Hofburg Palace, which boast very nice gardens and features throughout all the grounds.
There are two underground stations just around the corner, where you can buy tickets from the machines in the stations that cater for many different languages. In fact, we found the whole underground network to be very efficient, it was clean, felt extremely safe, and plenty of space with clear signs. Definitely a good way to get around the city - a 24hr unlimited pass cost about €5.70. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby too, including a Mexican that is quite literally a 1 minute walk from the hotel!
All in all, a very pleasant and memorable stay in a great city. We would most definitely return.
