Close to the "Ring", Old Town, Rathaus and U-Bahn, Tram outside the door. Entrance a bit dingy, but once inside the Hall like a Palace, they say it was an old Palace.
Tiny reception with internet, very friendly staff. Only a breakfast room, no bar or resturant. I asked for non smoking, quiet room and as a single traveller was giving a nice sized, very quiet double for single use, no view as internal, just a small coutyard below, sadly not owned by hotel so don't look down- just old bikes and bits of furniture from a bar . Nice shower and bathroom, but only soap and one sachet shampoo- no hairdryer in room need ask reception. Mini-bar, small lockable safe and satellite TV, but only CNN English news not so good for a Brit!
Internet free in reception and noother guest seemed to use it, so checked mail daily. Only 17 rooms and away from road so very quiet. Thin curtains allow light in morning. Pillow a bit soft, bed frim but comfy, good nights rest. Crumbs on carpet left after cleaner had been in, and not polished desk top- otherwise bathroom spotlessly cleaned- only one small rubbish bin in bathroom - always annoys me- how much does a simple rubbish bin cost?
Buffet breakfast okay, included in price - usual bread, cereal ( nice selection), 3 type of juice, 2 cheeses, 3 types meat, jams, cheese foil wraps, fruit, one type of cake and fresh tea coffee served.
Relaxing place and staff chatty and helpful- but feels a bit empty with no lounge or bar.
Great for sightseeing as so easy to walk anywhere. 24 hour reception and feels very safe, would be good for single ladies travelling alone.
