“Great hotel for 3 stars”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Great hotel for 3 stars is located just 2 minutes from the metro. To the center (Opera) - 10-12 minutes by subway
Very friendly staff
Excellent breakfast - again for the European 3 stars - eggs, sausage, sliced, cheese (including mold - some species), several kinds of rolls, butter, jam (several kinds), cereal, tea (in bags and sold by weight) , coffee, juice, fresh fruit
There are a few observations: number of different sizes, from medium to very large. Lodge in free.
Plumbing always good, the bathroom - Separate Bathroom with shower and hairdryer. BUT! not the usual one-time soaps and shampoos. There is a "container" with liquid soap and water, as over a sink and a shower.
The room - a TV, safe (included in price). But there is no mini-bar
By itself, the hotel - a hotel. From ext. services they have only the Internet - in the lobby there is a wi-fi and a computer with Internet access, which is freely available to travelers, the rooms internet on the wire (to be provided upon request at the reception). And inside, a very beautiful patio. For swimming pools, massage and spa services will have to go to Baden:)

“A very good classic style hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Me and my wife stayed here for three nights as we celebrated this new year in Vienna. This hotel was an excellent one and we will surely stay here, if we return to Vienna someother time. The most positive aspects of this hotel are the - classic appeal of the rooms (our room had a three piece sofa and a schandlier!), very friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast, and great location (it is very close to westbahnhof.. just one metro stop away from westbahnhof). The only negative thing which i felt about the hotel was the lack of wifi in the rooms. May be the hotel should try to provide that in future.

Room Tip: we stayed in the second floor.. and i feel second floor is really good

“Great location in Vienna”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

I believe this is one of the best locations in Vienna. First of all, the hotel is wonderfully located on a silent street, nearby subway station. The rooms are clean, spacious and the antique furniture, characteristic of Vienna, creates a timeless impression as if it had existed forever. I enjoyed staying here and I will surely come back soon.

Last but not least, the service is excellent and the personnel is extremely helpful and always smiling.

“not so bad but not so good- urgent revonation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We were staying in this hotel for one night. I had chosen it after seeing its reviews. Unfortunately, I don’t agree with the enthusiastic opinions. The furniture is really old, the armchairs had the clothing unwound and the curtains were dirty. In general, the room was clean enough, but the WC and the bathroom were so tight.
I had a bruise on my leg during one week, after my several impacts with a particular item of this old furniture in my way to exit door. The building inside is not renovated; I saw some cracks in the walls. Definitely, I shall never choose to stay there in such conditions until its renovation. During the night I was prevented from sleep by the noise of a TV from other room.
Despite these things the hotel`s location is excellent, the stuff at the reception was friendly and the breakfast was good and properly served.

Room Tip: ask to see it first

“Sleepless in Vienna”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

Located one stop from Vienna's west train station the Altwienerhof is well located for travel to all of Vienna. The nearest metro stop is a two minute walk away (literally across the street).

Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are very dated though with stained carpets and old furniture. The beds we used were well worn and creaked loudly everytime we moved during the night with the result that we had a bad night's sleep. Breakfast it at best 'boring', with ham and cheese and some bread rolls. If they replaced the creaky beds and provide a cooked breakfast, then it just might be worth the 100 euros per night. We won't be back in a hurry.
