Before travelling choices are made by reviews ,for me normally through Trip Advisor but there is always that chance that things might not be what you expect.This went the other way, wonderful,special touches, small enough to not lose that atmosphere, and close enough to everything making the stay more delightful.Price wise it is ideal and i found more personaility in this hotel than any other well known hotel,with all of the mod cons.You can get that anywhere, but this personailty was special..The Savoy truly fits this description, and as it was my last hotel on a special holiday i appreciated all of the small things,that gave the hotel a special personailty.
Breakfast ,was ample,and variable enough for all,whatever your nationality.Having travelled much of Europe, the elevator was a bonus,once the stairs at the entrance were managed ,rhe foyer was delightful .But again at the entrance to the hotel, there are a number of steps, that would make it difficultf for anyone with a disability or difficulty with steps But if you can manage those,the rest of the hotel was wondeful,...The foyer was charming and in keeping with the hole ,the room was a wonderful size, unusual in Europe,
The reception staff from the beginning made sure you had a map of Vienna, and where the hotel was on the map, and highlighted any event happening during the week..One point check out the church at the end of the strete it is a breathtaking wonder, on the inside ,not at all what you would expect from the outside.

I wasn't blown away by anything in particular about the Hotel Savoy. Its a good solid option and we enjoyed our stay here. The breakfast room is small, but adequate. The weird thing is that the guy at the front desk when we checked in asked us to leave the big heavy key with the front desk when we left for the day and we had to pick it up on the way back in to get into our room. We found that weird and have never had to do that before.

I appeared in hotel Savoy by chance - because the hotel Corvinus I booked in advance refused to give me room (explaining there was a serious water problem which can not be fixed in 2 days!). But the choice was lucky - the street parallel to Mariahilfer was very quiet, still central location, couple blocks from Museumquartier, one block from shopping, and hotel staff was very friendly. The furniture and refurb was not latest style, but the room was big - about 19 sq meters - with a hall, big bathroom and separate toilet, so isolated from any noise. Big bed, TV, small frige and a fan. The best place to sleep and have rest after walking in the city, very close to museums and historical center, 100 meters from underground, with connection to airport express. The breakfast could be better, but was good enough to survive. Lift is extremely small and not-friendly one. Overall - Good value for my money.
