I visited Vienna a number of times and always stayed in Grand Hotel Wien. This time I decided to change the hotel and I did not regret. The Hotel Royal is located in the heart of Vienna, 1 step from Schtefanplatz and Kartnerstrasse. Metro stop is 1 min away, a large Billa store is across the street. This is the safest location in Vienna.
The continental breakfast is included in the price and is very rich.
For the hotel with such central location, the rooms are very spacious. The hotel is very clean, the bedding is simple yet spotless. I did not find it being noizy like some other travellers complained -- what do you want from the hotel located downtown? I can tell you that my room was near the elevator and I was not able to hear any noise from the hallway.
In the mornings and in the evenings you can hear the bells of St. Stefan -- isn't it romantic...
Staff is very professional, nice, and friendly.
The so called business center is a small room with one computer, but you can get internet access for free and it is 24/7. The internet is quite fast and, yes, there is internet in the guest rooms too.
All in all, being an experienced traveller and staying in different hotels in more than 40 countries of the world, I think that Hotel Royal is a great value for a price. I definitely recommend it for travellers who are on a budget but want to stay close to the main Vienna attractions.

Good hotel at a great lactation. You can easily walk from Vienna/Mitte station where the train from the airport stops. Also, a tube station is right in front of the hotel.
Stuff was very friendly! Rooms are big. Furniture was not my cup of tea but probably what tourists expect from Vienna. I liked the wooden flooring (instead of a carpet). Had only a very small Cathode Ray Tube TV but who wants to watch telly when in Vienna. Everything was very clean.
I had a room to the rear of the house which was very quiet - until the bells from the dome rings in the morning.
Breakfast was plentiful; though I missed fresh fruit. Breakfast room is small-ish so there was a bit of a fight for tables on Sunday morning.
If you hare happy with a 4 star hotel then this place is great value for money.

I stopped for one night on 23rd October 2011. I was greeted on arrival and made to feel welcome. Staff spoke English and gave me local information and helpful advice. The room was on the 8th floor which was very quiet, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice and eat as much as you like. This was included in my room price. Hotel is centrally located right next to the magnificent cathedral and there is a metro train station just out the front. They looked after my luggage in the morning while I went off to the Spanish Riding School (a Vienna 'must do'). Only complaint, no coffee, tea making facility in the room. I will use this hotel again.

Its fantastic location right next to Stephansdome and the very spacious room made this a perfect choice for my trip. While the decor in general may seem a bit outdated at first, the hotel felt rather charming. Besides, I appreciated that the bathroom at least was quite modern.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and I felt at home from the moment I stepped in.
