The location of this property is hard to beat, on a quiet little side street just a half block off pedestrian-only Graben, very near St. Stephen's Cathedral. Personally I prefer a place with a little character as opposed to a sterile chain outlet, and this place dates to the 18th century and has some charm. Room sizes vary. The one I had was extremely small (although high-ceilinged ) with only the bed and a tiny table and chair (no desk, even), so be aware of this, particularly if you are on business and are used to doing some work in your room. There is wireless Internet access (for a fee) at least. The bathroom was well-enough equipped, although also small. There are minimal public areas in this hotel too (only a tiny lobby), although the adjacent Trattoria Santo Stefano serves very good Italian food accompanied by excellent service. This restaurant also is the breakfast venue -- it was a pleasant place to start the day and the buffet included a reasonably good selection of items. The hotel staff, although not overly warm, were efficient and helpful enough. The hotel bills itself as 4 star, and this to be frank is a stretch. However, if you don't mind rather simple, though well-maintained accommodations and want an outstanding central location at a reasonable price, this could be a good choice. I would go back.
