I have stayed in Papageno Hotel for 2 nights. Never heard of it before, but I had a booking through a company so there was not much choice.
It turned out that to be a very good choise indeed, though I have read some of the reviews here and have been really wondering.
Upon arrival, there is quite a long corridor which leads to the reception- by the way I never realised what was the point of such a long corridor.
The location is just great- some 10 minutes walk to the Opera - good start for the tourist.
I have been accomodated in a double room (upgrade chosen by management of Hotel) on the 4th floor- the lift is little bit aged but that is not the most important for a good hotel, isn't it?
The room was indeed very spacious , the bed was maybe little bit overused and aged-but in the same time there should be not any complaints about the cleanliness of the hotel itself.
The toilet was nice, always warm which is important since I was in Papageno in mid-January and outside tempereatures were freezing.
The breakfast was buffet style, varsious choice -between many types of bread, cheese, salamy, ham and so on....
The staff were generaly OK , except one older Gentlmen at the reception, which made few unfriendly remarks about the phone calls I got through Hotel's system, when I arived in the late afternoon- or at least about the number of phone calls.
All in all, I would try to visit Papageno once more, especially which I payed lowest possible rate (in accordance to the Hotel web site).
