“Good Choice for Vienna”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Hotel Regina Vienna is clean, well-located, reasonably priced, with helpful staff. I would stay there again.

The hotel staff was very friendly, spoke English well, and were very helpful in suggesting places to see and how to get there. The rooms were small, but very clean and comfortable. Internet access was available for a modest charge. The hotel restaurant had good food at reasonable prices.

The history of the hotel makes it special treat to stay here. Hotel Regina dates from before 1877. The cathedral next door is the "Votivkuche" (Votive Church) and there's a photograph in the lobby of the Regina standing completed next to it already in 1877. It's laid out in an style that strongly suggests that the people who could afford to stay here also were able to afford others to take care of their luggage and other accoutrements of travel.

It's just a 3 minute walk to the subway/tube/underground and tram station, called "Universidat," which itself is just a minute's walk outside of the Sentruum area of old Vienna. This was a great place to stay.

“Old time charm in Vienna”

Well located: 5 mins walk to the tram hub, another 5 mins walk to the central shopping streets, museums, palaces, everything. Hotel restaurant excels in good food: even the locals came there for Christmas dinner. Room was large, normally equipped: tv, safe, etc.

Room Tip: take a room at non-smoking floor, as high as possible

“Old school”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

A cracking hotel situated in the heart of vienna. Lovely old world charm and great value for money. I was seriously impressed with the decor, the attention to detail and especially the price.

“great location, bad services”

NO FREE Internet. At 100Eur/night NO FREE internet. You have to pay 12 eur / 24 hours of internet if you need it. So I decided to use my first minutes that I bought to write this review.

I am staying in single room which is quite big, however, the walls are dirty, the carpet has many stains, there is a small table but not good if you want to put your laptop on it to work if you are here with business, the TV is very small an is placed on a fridge after corner so if you are lying in bed you cannot see it and one shelf is broken.
The shower: no shampoo.

I have to stay here for another 12 days because it's already paid, but I will not choose this hotel again.

Probably this is the reason why I could found rooms available in this hotel in this time, cause everything else was sold out for 15days in a row.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel.

“A Lovely Dowager Queen of a Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

Yes, the pun in the title is intended as Regina is Queen in Latin!! Build in 1896, the hotel on the outside and in the public areas has old world charm. But my room was updated and modern. That's a good combination of old and new.

I have been going to Vienna for about 40 years since I was a student there, so I know hotels there. I avoid the large chains and opt for the family owned places, and this is a family owned hotel. The location is very good, located just outside the Ring. Transportation by tram and subway is quite close, only a block away. And it is easy to figure out the public transportation because the ticket machines can be operated in English as well as German. Also, within ten minutes walking time, you can be smack-dab in the middle of the old town. The location was really wonderful.

Staff at the hotel was pleasant and spoke Engligh quite well. The buffet breakfast was very good -- high quality breads and pastries, plus eggs and bacon and sausage and an array of fruits and yoghurts. Really good quality items. And a whole carafe of hot coffee!!!

My room ( a single) was adequately sized for a European room and it felt nice and cozy. Also, there was a nice flat screen TV in it. It was SPOTLESS and the whole room had clearly been recently renovated. The bathroom was entirely done in white tiles and there was a good supply of hot water for the shower. Good quality hair dryer provided as well.

I got a great price on this hotel, so my overall rating is related to that. It is not a five-star hotel just on objective terms, but for the price I paid, it is clearly a five-star hotel. I stayed an entire week and will not hesitate to return.

There were lots of nice and relatively inexpensive restaurants within just a couple of blocks. Also the hotel restaurant, Restaurant Roth, was very good and provided a nice menu of Viennese selections and wines. I ate there twice and was pleased.

I heartily recommend this place. I plan to stay here next time, provided I get a good room rate, of course!
