Although we didn't expect a five-star accommodation and service we were ultimately disappointed upon our arrival. Strange smell, worn out carpets, SMALL rooms and EXTRA SMALL beds. Bathroom was clean, staff pretty polite but everything else hardly worth half the price you pay in advance!

Kunsthof is a budget hostel and cannot be called a hotel, yet the rates are of a 4-star hotel. If I had not paid full in advance, I would have walked out. First impression when you walk in, is of shock. The hotel and rooms are all run down, worn out and lacking basic amenities. We had booked a medium room, which though clean, smelt stale. The bathroom was gloomy and had not been upgraded in a decade. I looked at some other rooms, all of similar poor quality. The hotel has one apartment, where we moved the 2nd day, at extra cost of 50 Euros. This was also worn out but much better than the rooms and the rest of our stay was peaceful. The hotel's proximity to the station Praterstern is a plus, though the area just outside the station seems to be a hangout for destitute homeless.

The location of this hotel is very good, it is near metro/bus/tram/railway station - all in one building. Getting from airport with railway (S7) to Praterstern (the name of the station) was very easy and cheap. I booked the hotel together with our flight, everything was pre-paid, all we had to do - enjoy our stay. And we did. People at the reception were very nice and friendly as was the girl who brought us our morning tea/coffee, all of them speaking English fluently. Speaking of breakfast I must add that there was wide variety of high quality choices (from English breakfast to self made sandwiches etc.) at the self-service table. Our room wasn't big, but it was warm, cozy and clean. Towels were changed everyday, not so sure about bedsheets, because I couldn't tell the difference, but they definitely weren't dirty. The carpet could have been cleaner, though. Liquid soap, shower gel/shampoo were provided. It was very quiet, only we could hear other travellers passing by. The lift was small, but it wasn't an inconvenience. Internet access in the lobby, allowing to print out tickets, etc. All in all we had a wonderful stay with economic budget.

A perfect distance outside the main area if you like a little quiet- very close to metro, small but clean and interesting room- no AC if you go in the summer- small bathroom but very clean and great water pressure! Very eclectic and cool building! Would definitely go back as long as it wasn't a time when AC was needed!
