“Close to main atractions”

Good location is one of the most important advantages of this hotel. If you want to reach the reception you need to use steps or an elevator - because hotel is located as the part of a bigger building (if I am right only two floors belong to Best Western hotel?). Our suite was very cosy and well furnished. What was a big plus. The bathroom was't very big- just enought. Unfortunetlly balcony was very very small - it was imposible for two people to sit together and enjoy the view. Breakfast was delicious with many kind of fruits, bread, meat etc. After check out we could left our bags in the reception area and came back for them when we wish (Thank you Best Western!).

“Not a 4 star hotel definitelly!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

I just stayed 4 nights in this hotel. The main problem is that my room was located just about 5 meters from the reception, seriously (it was the room n. 24)! It was so embarrassing, because people coud hear when I sneeze easily. I know that because from my room I heard other people walking and sneezing and talking in the reception and in the corridor. Bottom line: NEVER, EVER stay in this hotel with family, girlfriend or (God forbids) in a honeymoon!

Also the breakfast (wich was really good) table was in front of the reception. Since they started to prepare the stuff for the breakfast early and the guests started to eat at 7 am, you can easily imagine the poor nights I had.

The hotel actually stays in 2 floors inside a commercial building, with other businesses in other floors. Since I arrived late in the sunday, I had to knock insistently in order to enter the reception, wich is located in the 2nd floor.

In the first night a clerk from the staff of the hotel entered my room without my permission, she didnt speak English... and I was naked surfing in the net (no, I was NOT looking for adult content in the net, it happened that my room was just too hot. I swear!) I complained in the reception (just put a shirt and a trouser, opened the door and gave 2 steps to the left), who first denied, then recognized she had entered my room and apologized...

I give 2 stars just because of the breakfast, that was good, and because I payed just 52 euros/night for the room. With the benefit of hindsight it would be much better to stay in a nice B&B, a decent 2 or 3 star for the same price or even go to a hostel. Another option was to spend more 30 or 40 euros and stay in a REAL 4 star hotel.

Room Tip: Stay in the 3rd floor, far away from the reception in the 2nd floor.

“poor experience at Hotel Pension Arenberg.ZERO STARS !!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

We spent 3 nights at this hotel Oct 14th /oct 17th. We had a small room overlooking the lift shaft i assume as we just look out at 3 brick walls. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. the shower was poor either being too hot or too cold. i had chosen this hotel for 3 main reasons, location, internet access and breakfast included. location is good but everything else is very poor. Like the previous post i agree the choice at breakfast was vast but not fresh, yogrut had an after taste and when I poured milk into my tea it was sour and lumpy. We just gave up as the waitress was rude. She did not say Good morning, just barked what is your room number. The breakfast room is very tiny with about 6 tables with everyone sitting on top of each other. Internet services were virtually non existant, so again not good. On our last eveing we returned to our room to discover the curtains had been removed, we advised reception who tried to say the windows were special and would not let any light in. We explained that we expected the curtains to be returned by the time we got back in from Dinner. When we got back this had not been addressed, the staff at reception said theycould do nothing, it was not there fault, the manager could not be contacted, he was out of the country but could address our concerns the following day. they could not give us our money back approx 150 GBP per night as we had booked with an agent nor could they offer us another room. The whole incident was completely unsatisfactory, the hotel has a sign saying they are 4 stars, this hotel is bearly a 2 star. If you are looking for a good location it is fine but do not have any expectations of this hotel other than it being poor. if you have booked and can change hotel I would encourage you to do so.

Room Tip: Don't go

“Mixed feelings...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

I spent one night in this hotel (from September 27 to 28) and have a very mixed feelings about it...

First - it is not a typical hotel. It only occupies 2 floors of an old (but well kept) city house. the reception is on the second floor, accessible after ringing a bell out of the entrance door (once you are checked-in, you cyn use your hotel card).

Absolutely best about the hotel is its location - within a walking distance from U-bahn stations Stubentor and Schwedenplatz, there is also a tram stop just in front of the hotel.

The room we had was of a common size, with a view of the Ringstrasse, which we liked. The windows were really soundproof, so do not be afraid of a traffic noise from the busy Ringstrasse. The room was furnished and decorated in a 19th century style, like on a chateau.

We booked a double room, but there was just one towel, blanket and pillow in the room, so they obviously made a mistake and prepared the room for just one person. However, this was immediately solved after we contacted the reception. In general the staff were nice and helpful.

Breakfast was poor, by our opinion. The choice was vast, but most of the food (especially fruits) didn't seem to be fresh. There were also those small flies flying around it, so we almost didn't eat.

To summarize - we liked the location and also the price was reasonable, but we would not stay in this hotel again.
