We stayed at Hilton Vienna Danube on July 2011 for 3 nigths in connected rooms. The rooms were very big, nice, clean, well decorated. The hotel is also big, located by the river and has a very good view. Breakfast also good. There should be a swimming pool, but it was under construction. The hotel is 15 minutes walking distance to metro station (I'm 44 years old, maybe less for young people). It' s not very far, but after a long day at Vienna city center it is not easy to walk (especially if it's raining and dark!).

First let me say that the Hotel Vienna Danube is a Hilton property and as such is a very nice modern hotel.
We booked this hotel for the last night of our Austria - Germany vacation because we were flying home the next morning. When we saw the advertisement for a "Special Rate" we were sold.

Here's the problem:
Hotel Vienna Danube is NOWHERE NEAR the city center and not close to the airport either!
It is a very nicely appointed hotel in the middle of nowhere!
We caught a cab from the airport and the fare was over 40 Euros!
We had wanted to spend one last night in downtown Vienna but the thought of spending that much or more just to get to the city center dashed that hope.
Fortunately, our cab driver told us just before dropping us off that if we wanted to go to the city center we should take the subway and even showed us where the station was, only a few blocks from the hotel. Subway cost 4 Euro round trip as I recall.

When we left for the airport in the morning we thought we were within a few minutes drive.
WRONG!
The cab ride was 35 minutes and cost us 25 Euro.
But wait there's more!
There is a surcharge for all cabs in Vienna that go to the airport of 22 Euro.
The surcharge is written on a card that can be viewed from the back seat of the cab and is for "The return trip of the cab back to the city".
25 + 22 = 47 Euro for a cab ride from Hotel Vienna Danube! Ouch!

Again, the hotel itself is very very nice and the deal we got was 90 Euro for the night.
They charge an additional 35 Euro if you want a river view.
It was not the hotel so much that disappointed us, but the location.
Bad location if you're looking to get to the city center or the airport.

i visitied this hotel in January of 2010 it is a great hotel across the Danube and near to a metro station (500m) was very convenient. The panoramic view of Danube river during breakfast was worth it.
Room dimensions were good the stuff was helpfully.

Fantastic hotel with a great view on Danube and UNO city. Rooms are large and new refurbished in 2011 - since that I always feel impressed by the hotel. You should ensure to get rooms with Danube view. This side is quiet (except one or two boats passing by in the morning) with nice views. The other side could get noisy because of trains and cars passing by. If you choose executive floor, the executive lounge has great view over the rooftops of the city. Great location for jogging, to the center you walk for 10 min to metro and take U2 to the city - takes just few minutes. I choose this hotel regularly on my stays in Vienna.
