“Average hotel at excellent location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2011

Haydn is located at Mariahilferstrasse right in the Vienna center. It's short walking distance to any Vienna attractions. This is also main plus for this otherwise average hotel. Rooms look like from old hotel in eastern block, one of our rooms was very smelly (looked like toilet leak). Breakfast is simple buffet, but OK. Hotel offers parking space in parking lot close by for half of the normal price. I stayed in this hotel several times, business or holiday reasons. For the price, it's very good choice in Vienna.

“Terrible Staying”

Good location in the Mariahilferstrasse very close to the city centre but our room was on the first floor and due to the street's noise it was almost impossible for us to sleep or to relax, even in the late night.
Breakfast to be forgotten...coffee tasting sweat, poor buffet. We tried a typical austrian cheese but you bet it was chilled not before that 2 months ago.
Ugly room, badly furnished. Our bill was "swollen" with beverages we never drank. Vienna is a town of outstanding beauty. Next time we'll stay in another hotel, for sure.

Our primary objectives in the hotel: Cleanliness, comfort, quality and customer satisfaction.
All our rooms are new and not older than 3 years old. The rooms are all equally equipped and are very comfortable. There are rooms facing the courtyard and street-side, as well as any hotel.
We are on a main shopping center street and have one of the best locations that few have and there is a lot of traffic during the day but our windows are soundproof and loud street noise does not penetrate through the window. At night it's quiet, because no car driving or walk is on the main shopping street. So, if there were noise, then that was probably a one time thing, or the window was open.
Breakfast topic: We have a large assortment of breads, meats, cheeses, and much more. This is bought fresh daily for our guests. Also, our coffee is freshly prepared and it is first-class breakfast coffee where we have already received many positive compliments about it. So if the coffee was not good for you, then we regret it deeply.
We hope to have served, and you see that we are trying to satisfy all our guests needs.

“Location, Location, Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2010

Vienna is one of those magical cities that charm you from the moment you arrive downtown. It is filled with culture - people, architecture, paintings, music, churches, palaces, museums, sidewalk cafes, restaurants in the garden, beautiful parks, super public transportation, great shopping, and is truly an international meca. Of all the 65 countries I have visited, I think Austria is my favorite. Vienna is more beautiful and affordable than Paris and the people are a thousand times more polite and willing to speak ENGLISH. Whenever I go to Wien, as it is locally called, the home of the Hapsburg empire for over 750 years, I stay at the Haydn Hotel. It is a small hotel located within walking distance to the Hasburg Hofburg palace, Museum Quarter, Maria Theresa Platz, and about 2 blocks from the U-bahn subway, right next to the Maria Hilfenfrau Kirche and statue of Josef Haydn the composer. It is one one of the main shopping streets and very close to the center of the city. For the price and cleanliness, you cannot beat it. Staff are friendly, helpful, and the continental breakfast is more than you can eat each morning. It is an old hotel, but well maintained and extremely clean. Do not spend your money on taxis and the train into the city if you have several pieces of luggage, it will cost you dearly and exhaust you lugging them everywhere to catch the next mode of transportation. Call the hotel and ask them to send an airport shuttle to come get you for about 35Euro - less than you would pay for the taxi once you get downtown and if that is added to the train price, you can pay about 100 Euro for 2 people with bags to just arrive there instead of calling the hotel. The airport is about 30Km outside the downtown, so it is a ways off. By the way, if you are active duty or retired military, they will give you a NATO discount of 10% off the posted price, but you have to ask for it when making the reservation - either by phone or email.

I've stayed in this hotel on a city break with my family and partner and I was very pleased with this hotel. Rooms were very cosy and clean and location was brilliant.
Special thanks to the staff on the reception and cleaners, because I've left my ipod in the hotel and they were so very kind they sent it to my country a week later when I found out.
They didn't even charge me postal money. So thank you very much, I really appreciate it.
Will definitely stay again if I have a chance.
