I really was very surprised when entering into the city and finding this hotel. Personnel is great, no doubt, but the first impression you get is that it is more an Inn rather than a hotel. The surroundings are very noisy, there are fabrics around the corner and it is located at a neighborhood made from people having different cultures. I felt disappointed at all. The A-C did not work and although being in the fall season it was still hot. Windows could not be open because of the outside noise. I stayed one night and left the day after. My opinión about the staff is very good though. They are all very kind, very respectful and willing to help you.

Room was spacious, clean and comfortable, breakfast was good and internet was satisfactory. The neighborhood is not that great but it is close to train station.
Would have been perfect, but our sink had white mold around the faucet. Front Desk was helpful but not as friendly when they are busy. We also got confusing/different information on how to take the train from the hotel to the airport. If you are comfortable taking the train, then I would recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for two nights, first impressions where good but as stay continued small things became apparent that this place it was not as good as first thought. We asked for 7th floor room with street view which we got but found out later you could not stand up in shower as the roof cut across half bathtub and you had to stand in the small dorm window and hold shower head. The sound proof window did not shut properly, went for a swim but there was nothing to wash with when you got out [pool a bit tired looking] was told bring some from your room by attendant,on second day did not leave enough shower gel for even one person let alone to go for a swim too.Phoned for extra pillow as they where so flat i may as well not had one, asked three times still never got any.Breakfast i have to say was very good well done to all in the kitchens but let down by chipped plates and bowls. This could be a great hotel if more attention to detail was shown as its in good location for restaurants , bars and transport

Room tip: Dont book 7th floor as explained in main comments

When I travel I spend very little time in my hotel room so some amenities like a great pool or HD flat screen TV don't matter much to me. Usually all I care about is good service, a good location, cleanliness, and a good bed. Hotel Exe Vienna has 3 of the 4 of those, but the bed and pillows in our room were terrible, even by European standards. I won't give the hotel a bad review though, the service was actually above average and the breakfast was excellent. If you are going to stay here, maybe ask for a room with an updated bed? Hopefully they aren't all as bad as ours was.

Summary: Reasonably cheap, very bare essentials, staff friendly enough, 7 minutes out of town centre.

The biggest issue with this hotel would be its "4" star rating, followed by its overly generous description of itself and photogenic pictures - these set your expectations probably higher than they should be.

The hotel has all the amenities to constitute a 4 star hotel but the quality of these more appropriately a 2 or low 3 star level. Upon entering our room there was a strong smell of thick mould, the previous occupant's used towel was scrunched up in a ball in the wardrobe, the bathroom had a scummy feel about it and the tissue dispenser was empty when we arrived and left empty following daily housekeeping. Breakfast comprised the usual suspects and unless you are pressed for time I'd encourage you to explore the local cafes instead. The hotel is based about a 7 minute drive from the town centre.

Cheap, yes. Enjoyable stay? Let's just say you are encouraged to explore all that Vienna has to offer.
