“Location, Location, Location and this hotel has that.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

The rooms are good, they are clean and comfortable, the only down side was no ac and on scorching hot week in Vienna this is a mark against it, they did at least have fans and windows that open, but if you are thinking of leavening the window open don't complain if you can't sleep, the noise of the nightclubs will keep most people awake. The bathroom was a little small, but clean. The reception staff were more than helpful and very polite. Breakfast was enjoyable. All in all no complaints price and location make the little things bearable. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

“good but REALLY noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

This hotel was rec. by Rick Steves. Overall a good experience but there was so much bass thumping from a nightclub next door that went on until 5:00 AM. the reception refused to give us a less noisy room. they did provide us with earplugs that did nt help. I was up all night which wrecked my ability to really enjoy Vienna. One morning I had to get upearly to catch my flight. the taxi driver, arranged by hotel , that was "friends " with the hotelreception, overslept and then told the hotel he'd call us when he was ready to pick us up. Really? Don't they get it that we have connectionsto make? I tried to go outside the hotel to flag a taxi but the street was full of drunks including a guy that tried to take my to his "private " taxi. the hotel receptionist yelled at me about the late taxi when I complained that I needed to get to the airport. He said"What do you expect me to do about it?" Really guys???Beef up your customer service.

Room Tip: Tell them you wont stay unless you get a quiet room

“Clean and Convenient, but Noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

This hotel is well located in the middle of the old town. There are some nice bars in the area to hang out in and the express bus to the airport is located a few short blocks away. The old town area is pretty small in the first place. Most of the tourist sites are along the ring road, which serves as the border of the old town. However, to walk from one side of old town to the other only takes about 20 minutes. To reach any tourist destination only takes a 15-20 minute walk at most. There's really no reason to take a bus, tram, or the subway. The staff understands enough English to get you checked-in and out. They are also helpful to purchase some concert tickets.

My room was clean and had double-pane windows to keep the outside noise outside. I had nice crisp sheets. I did not notice any air conditioning aside from the radiator. You will hear your neighbors taking showers and flushing the toilet. I also heard loud conversations. My bathroom was tiny. If you are taller than 6 feet or greater than 225 pounds, you will have problems using the toilet. In fact, you'll would need to sit on the toilet sideways. The shower door isn't very big either. It might be too claustrophobic if you weigh greater than 250 pounds. There is a shared toilet in the hallway for use.

Room Tip: There is an empty building across the street from my window. It looks like it was a bar.

“Quirky, but good quirky”

This is an odd little hotel. It is very well situated to the sights of Vienna, as well as the airport bus. Also, it is close to some amazing gelato (Zanoni & Zanoni or Castelleto).

It definitely has some quirks. First off, other than the lobby, there are no floors until the 4th floor. The hotel is on the 4th-7th floors of the building. So if you opt to bypass the slow elevator and take the picturesque stairs up, know that there are exits from the stairwell, but just not until floor #4. The bathrooms are tiny, tiny, tiny. You can sit on the toilet and rest your head on the opposite wall. And that toilet is a weird backwards version. It feels like you're in a hotel from a story where a girl goes to the big city in the 1920's and has to live in a hotel for a while before she makes it big in the cabaret or something. And it is utterly charming. The stairs are beautiful. How often do you get to say that?

The desk staff are cheerful and helpful. They outfitted members of our group with full size umbrellas after we were caught in a torrential downpour. The breakfast spread is astounding. You could easily pack your lunch from the morning buffet ... I mean, if that were ethical ...

One night there was some bass thumping from somewhere, and there was no AC, but otherwise we slept well with our atrium-facing room. It's within easy walking distance of Stephensdom, the opera, and the Hofburg
