Perfect location in the Historical Centre, only 2 minutes walk to Stephansdom and Schwedenplatz. Very friendly and helpfull staff! Clean hotel with comfortable rooms, simple but nice breakfast. We arrived early (10 pm) and it was a pleasant surpirse to get our room right away :).

Excellent location, an easy walk from the metro. Very convenient to nicer shopping. Hotel is very friendly and clean and has a wonderful vintage elevator. However, our room did not have air conditioning and the windows opened over a late-night restaurant on the ground floor. Also, the windows opened inward, over one of the beds, so if you left it open for needed air, you bumped your head during the night. In the morning, we were awakened by an early moring motorcyclist zooming his motor under our windows. And we were on the 4th floor! Definitely check out the air conditioning and the window orientation before agreeing to your room.

+ The best thing about this hotel is the location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They allowed us to check in early and then kept our bags after checkout. Our room was overlooking a drab courtyard but it was quiet. Wireless internet is available in the rooms and works well.
- Breakfast selection was not great. There is no air conditioner and the room was HOT. We were provided with a small but noisy fan and that combined with the heat did not allow for a good nights sleep. There is no hair dryer or safe in the room. I would not stay here again if the weather is forecast to be hot. It was 90 F while we were in Vienna. It would be ok in cooler weather.

Stayed at the Kartnerhof for 2 nights with a couple of friends. The hotel is fine, its in a great location but not easy to find! It was clean, the hotel staff were very helpful. Breakfast was ok, cereals, breads, eggs and bacon, coffee nice and were beds comfortable. Thats all been said before. So heres some other helpfull information
You can take the bus from the airport (6 euros) which dropped us off approx 10 mins walk from the hotel. The buses run every 1/2 hour. Take a good detailed map !
Vienna is expensive! A cup of average coffee is 4.60 euros in some places we had to check our coats in the cloakroom for 1 euro so that made the coffee 5.60! oh and dont forget the 10% tip!
Try and find a restaurant with a set menu, e.g. 3 courses for 16 euros.
If you want to visit both the summer and winter palaces buy the combined ticket its cheaper.
Take the tram you can buy the tickets from any tobacco shop. You can use them for the tram or the metro.
We didn't find the Austrian people very friendly! We lost our way a couple of times and its was other English people that helped us!!
I liked Vienna but wouldn't say its a fun place to go like New York or Amsterdam, but there are some amazing cultural attractions like the Schonburnn Palace, go inside and see the Royal apartments. Its also the cleanest city I have ever been to. Would i go back yes 3 days wasnt enough!
