Another special occasion and another special hotel! We asked for and got a 'street view room' (I don't like dark rooms and some rooms over look an inner courtyard). To be fair, it's difficult to 'view the street' as the window sills are 24" wide!.
Check in and check out was very efficient and we found all the staff friendly and helpful. Hats off to the barman who greeted us on the last night by remembering our order from 5 nights previously (and no, it wasn't because we'd drunk the place dry!)
The reception is very pleasant and you can take drinks there from the bar (which can get smokey and, they have a humidor so sometimes it's cigar smoke.)
We loved the decor throughout the hotel and our room (the hotel's basic i.e. 'superior') at 30 sq m was very spacious. The bathroom with shower, (we hadn't specifically requested 'a tub') was very well appointed with bottled, branded toiletries. (Moan. Why the stupid glass door into the bathroom? It's not a matter of privacy, but logic! If one person goes to the loo in the middle of the night then the other person is woken up by a spotlight!)
We didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on the food, but it did look very swish. At 28 euros the breakfast is over-priced (we were offered a reduced price of 20 euros, on check in)
Big moan. I think it's outrageous that the more you pay for a hotel room, the less likely you are to have breakfast included. Anyway, we went to various cafes, but the famous Cafe Central is 2 minutes away and the Altenberg Fruhstuck at 12.50 euros, including coffee, is very substantial.
To sum up: we really liked the hotel: chic and centrally placed in the Innere Stadt and just 2 mins from a U-Bahn station
