“Just returned from a wonderful week at the Jagerwirt”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We have just returned after a wonderful week in Kitzbuhel, staying at the Hotel Jagerwirt. The rooms were spacious and clean...... we were given a suite despite having booked through Thomson Ski. Big sitting room with sofa and two armchairs, separate bedroom, very large spacious bathroom and massive balcony. The food was excellent (especially the gorgeous soups) and the service was friendly and consistent. Sabine, Riccardo, Henry and Martin run the restaurant like a well oiled machine and are always ready with a smile.

Many comment on the location of this hotel but it really isn't "out of town". Friends stayed at the Tiffenbrunner which although located in the pedestrianised centre is equal distance to the ski lifts. There are lovely shops on the short walk up to town and the ski bus stops very close to the hotel. Our friends who stayed in the superior central hotel frequently drank in our bar as it had a lounge area unlike the Tiffenbrunner and also joined us for our gala dinner on the last evening which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Good choice of food and yummy scrambled eggs for breakfast (with hot bacon or sausage).... would love to know what they put in them to make them so tasty but obviously a well guarded secret!!

The only tiny negative is that I found the beds a little hard but as I have a long standing back problem this is a common issue when I travel. The hotel were keen to overcome this and happily put a topper on my bed without any fuss. The views from the room were amazing and it was nice and quiet at night.

Overall great value for money and we will definitely be returning. Keep up the good work Jagerwirt!!

Room Tip: Ours was on the road side and lon the second floor and had a fab view and very little road noise so...

“Did not meet expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012 via mobile

The issue is that we probably had higher expectations from a 4 star hotel. Unfortunately Jagerwirt left us less satisfied than the 3 star Tyrolean hotel we stayed at last year.

Rooms were spacious and clean but I am not sure I can think of any more positives.

Staff were ok, but I would have expected better training and attitude.

Food was also ok, but that was exactly the problem. Not something to look forward to, in most cases just average.

And what we will never forget is the repeating music over breakfast and dinner for the whole 7 days. Nothing against the songs themselves (everyone likes a Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams at times :) ) but I would have preferred listening to something different in this environment - and definitely not the same songs repeating over and over again.

Overall I would not recommend Jagerwirt.

“1st ski hol of the year”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Stayed in the hotel Jagerwirt in Kitzbuhel from the 31/12/11 to 07/01/12.
This was our second ski holiday staying at this hotel the previous last year over the Christmas period.
Once again the same high standard of service from all the staff who could not have been more helpful and their personal touches at New Year made the stay even more enjoyable.
The food in the restaurant is excellent and varied providing choices for each course at the evening meal and hot and cold buffet breakfast for the start of the day. The wine is of a high quality but on the pricey side. Buy one from the local supermarket and keep it cool in the balcony to enjoy while you are getting ready for dinner.
The pool and spa area etc. is an extra bonus at the end of a hard days skiing but also something to do when the weather prevents you skiing.
The rooms are traditional and our room had a sitting area with plenty of storage space.
You can walk to the lift station (10mins 15 with boots and skis) but the bus stop is less than a minute from the front door of the hotel.
This resort is good if members of your party are not dawn to dusk skiers as the town has plenty to see and there are a mumber of walking tours you can go on.
There is normally low key entertainment in the receptiom bar each evening or you can play pool in the lounge bar. Most of the popular bars are within walking distances if you have the energy after skiing / dinner and the apri ski can be expensive in some of the bars in the town centre.
We travelled with Crystal who we always find to one of the better ski companies and there ski escorting service is very useful when the weather conditions are poor and lift queues can normally be avoided.
Look forward to returning next year.

Room Tip: rooms at the back are queiter

“Sorry.... failed to meet expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We chose this hotel largely on the basis of the positive trip advisor reviews; unfortunately it failed to meet our expectations.
Pros:
The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful
The pool area was nice
Tap water is available whereas some hotels will only serve bottled water
Rooms were clean

Cons:
The evening meals were a disappointment; they were plentiful but lacked finesse. We didn't look forward to them with any anticipation.
Evening meals could be over in 45 minutes such was the rapid service.
Sunday evening pre-dinner drink with the family turned out to be a gluhwein; we had expected a sparkling wine.
Previous reviewers have commented on the tired looking rooms.
Hotels I have rated highly have tended to have very hands on management by members of the family.

Overall, nothing I could complain about as such. Would we go there again.... probably not; I suspect there are better 4* hotels in Kitz (tho' maybe not with Crystal)

“Good service from friendly staff in typical Tyrolean hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Just got back from great week in Kitz having stayed at the Jargerwirt.
General Comments :-It is a family run hotel with staff who engaged with customers whilst providing good service in the bars / restaurant.
Its located close to the sports arena, at opposite end from old town so use of ski bus is needed to get to both major lifts. The Hanakalm lift is not so far to walk if a snowboarder in comfy boots. Sigi's bar attached to hotel has live sport tv and so carries all major footy matches. The wellness area is either fairly recent or well maintained, either way its as good as it looks on the website. The main bar area was spacious, traditionally furnished and good place to chat, relax, surf on the free Wifi or play Uno ! It was also a non smoking area of the hotel. IF YOU ARE NOT aware the smoking rules of the UK do not apply in Austria, so a non smoking bar is the unusual not the norm.
Room Comments :- Our room 103 overlooked the side of the hotel, was in good condition, traditionally furnished and mostly quiet. Bathroom was a little dark due to the single light and colour of tiles but there was loads of hot water for the full sized bath at any time of day or evening. Being close to the main stairs did make our room a little nosier in the mornings as people went to breakfast. The ski /boot room was very good in terms of access, lighting, benches and storage racks. ( Boot rack was heated )
This is a similar hotel to that we use in Zell - St Georg. That met our needs and expecations on the four visits and if we went back to Kitz would choose the Jagerwirt again over the other Crytsal options. We visited friends who were staying at the Hoffer and would say it was good value and is a good choice for those on a budget. But for not too much more money, the quality of service, food, public area comfort, was a lot better in Jagerwirt.

Room Tip: Rooms on front may suffer from road noise a little. 104, 105, 106 would probably be good rooms as th...
