“Good hotel with some issues for a 4 stars rated hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Rather recent hotel - Nice deco and very rational - Quiet - Parquet floor in the room - Large safe with internal AC plugs for charging (nice idea) - Gorgeous breakfast - Useless blinds i.e. you'll wake up at 5am in summer!!! - Toilets in the bathroom, not separated which is not very practical - No WiFi connection in our room (306) despite hotel statement - Welcome service not on par with 4 stars hotel - Stinky carpet floor in hallways.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms located near the main road

“Medium level”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

I stayed in the hotel just for one night on a business trip. I did not find it very convenient for business travellers. The rooms have NO wifi, which is only in the Common areas. I arrived at 9 in the evening and my room, 220, had the window open and no heating, even if it was only 3 degrees outside. Luckily, i had to go to dinner, so I opened the heating and came back in 90 minutes with the room at the right temperature. The ambiance is very modern and minimalist, but overall I had also the impression it was quinte cheap. The room was clean, but the bathroom had signs of a water leakage from the shower. Also I found horrible for a 4 star hotel the soap dispenser, which was also quinte difficult and cumbersome to use

“Efficient, good location, roomy, excellent breakfast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

This hotel is five minutes from the Congress Centre and eight from the heart of town - at a brisk trot! The room has a Scandinavian feel with wood floor, bed-head and fitted furniture. Convenient touches like coat hooks, in-wardrobe light and somewhere to put your case so you can get organised. Bathroom had wet-room set-up which was fine but glass screen not quite wide enough to stop the floor getting wet if you're enthusiastic in the shower!

Excellent buffet breakfast with lovely breads, a selection of cereals and fruit, yogurts, smoked salmon, cheese, meats etc. Warm food in heated containers daily = scrambled eggs, mini sausages, streaky bacon and hard-boiled eggs. I think you can order fried eggs though not sure.

We had a room at the side of the building which meant we had a good view of the river and the mountains but the downside of a front or side room is the noise from the road if you want the window open, although it was very quiet at night. We found the air-conditioning was noisy and not particularly useful, which surprised us as everything else was very good, especially if you like a very firm mattress.

Staff are helpful and speak wonderful English (put us to shame!). Good bar for drinks. You'll need it for a coffee as there's no hospitality tray which we would have liked so we could make a cuppa!

Room Tip: A room at the back doesn't have a view perhaps, but might be quieter from road noise?

“Great value, but there are some things you should know”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

The location is perfect, right next to the bus, rail and walking distance to downtown. For the money, an excellent value. However, the decor is stark, european sized (small), and the beds are very hard (also a european norm). Free internet is nice, and the breakfast is really good. There is no taxi service, so you must call in advance. The place closes at night, so don't expect to place a request for a wakeup call at 1AM. Your card lets you into the hotel late at night. The whole town closes at 6PM except on Thurs and Fri when they close at 8PM. Only restaurants and bars are open beyond that. This town has a small city feel, and everyone seems so friendly and open. Remember that bicycles rule in this city, so don't walk in th bicycle lane. Also, if there is no light at the crossing, the cars will almost always give you right of way to walk across the designated lanes. The people here seem to follow the rules in every sense. I did not see a single person walk when the red light for crossing was on (even when there were no cars to be seen). All around, the hotel is great for what it is, an inexpensive place to sleep and rest, with a great location central to all the sights. Don't expect the kind of service you get at a high end hotel in the states.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the mountains. Really amazing.

“Ideal hotel for visiting Innsbruck”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011

I visited Innsbruck with my husband for 3 days celebrating our wedding anniversary. The hotel is really close to Old City, 5 min walk. The hotel is located near the river and has a great view. We booked a business room with upgrate (extra 10euro in total) and it costed us 220euros for 2 days. Checking all the hotels in Innsbruck, it was one of the cheap ones but it was really modern, clean and value for money. There are a lot of hotel in Inssbruck but most of them are old traditional hotels, which I'm not fond of. The hotel has a bar and a restaurant that you can have either lunch or dinner. They have a fitness room with sauna and all that stuff and the receptionist can arrange you for massage.
Tips: there is a restaurant opposite the hotel, with traditional viennesse kitchen. Really nice food, not to expensive and it is not "a touristic" spot...a lot of local people were eating there.
Visit American bar at the 5th floor of Penz hotel. Great cocktails and cool music.
