The Tautermann is just across the Inn river from the old city and the train station but has limited free parking. Our family size room had a comfortable double and two twins, but everything in the room was very worn. The staff was friendly and the laundry service (5 Euros for a load) was a big plus for us. Although the location was a little remote, the hotel was quiet and it was easy to walk to many destinations or to public transport.

We stayed one night in Tautermann's in Innsbruck. Although we found it a little hard to find (Up a narrow little road - directly opposite the main bridge over the river "Inn" , in the centre of Innsbruck) we found the staff friendly and the location excellent for an evening walk down into the "Old Town" area of Innsbruck with it's lovely restaurants and coffee shops.

We spent 4 nights over the Christmas weekend at the hotel with our son his wife and 14 month old grandson. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms were nice, The hotel was spotless the breakfast great and I could not fault the hotel as a 3 star hotel and can recommend the hotel for all travellers.

My wife and I spent our Christmas in Tautermann.We were given a double room(n.43) οn the 3rd floor (no lift).Not big-not small.Very clean,although the furniture seemed to be a bit old.Small bathroom,seemed to be aged,but clean.Typical breakfast.
Try to ensure room with number ending in 1 or 2 (f.ex. 21 or 32) to avoid the building in front of the hotel.You will have better view!!!
The advantages are the price and the location.We spent our Chrismtas in a legendary Alpin-Christmas town giving 80 euros per night(incl.breakfast).Coming from the main railway station you can catch bus A(2 buses hourly),from the centre of the town you can also catch bus J(4 buses hourly).During the night you can catch N8 and N7.All of them stop at Hottinger Kirchplatz 30m uphill of the hotel.In the small square there is a taxi-stop.Of course you can walk,but from the Inn river is a bit uphill.
The neighborhood is quite and safe.Spend some time walking towards the zoo.Beautiful houses with nice view over the town.Or you can take the funicular plus the 2 lifts,to ascent the nordpark (strongly recomented) from the centre of the town (Congress) and get off at Alpenzoo,on your way back.
Don't forget to buy the Innsbruck card as soon as you arrive.25,30,35 euros for 1,2,3 days.You can take every mean of public transport,you can entry every musuem and you can use every lift (once) in the whole area (incl. nearby villages like Igls,Mutters,etc).
