Excellent location 5 minutes walk to Old Town, also similar distance from main railway station. Bus and tram stops within a few minutes walk. Therefore excellent base for exploring this lovely city and surrounding area - e.g. Igls ski resort only 15 mins away by frequent bus. High quality of rooms, though rather short on storage space for clothes etc and therefore better suited to a short stay than a longer one. Really good breakfast with lots of choice and food constantly replenished and fresh. Staff did sometimes struggle to cope with demand for tables at breakfast as we were there over Christmas, the hotel was full and it seemed everyone wanted to take breakfast at the same time. But the staff did all they could, and drafted in other staff from reception etc etc to assist, so full marks for that.
One slight criticism was that there was no recognisable lounge area and therefore nowhere to relax other than the restaurant or the room. There was a seating area in the downstairs reception area and also next to the first floor bar, but both these were very busy areas, particularly the bar as this was also the only access to and from the restaurant.
Staff extremely helpful and very pleasant. E.g. without hesitation photocopied a colour map of the bus and tram network when we enquired at reception how to get to Igls. Also gave good advice about which places were more interesting to explore, and they clearly knew the local area very well.
Recommended for a short stay but do bear in mind this is a modern "tower" hotel and not a traditional Austrian/Tyrolean establishment. The upside of being a modern "tower" is of course the views from the rooms as there are no other tall structures around to obscure the views, and whichever side of the hotel your room is situated you will get good views of the town, mountains and surrounding area. The higher the floor, the better the view.
