“A genuine friendly family-run Tyrolean hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I really liked this place. It is a genuine family run business and the staff were all very pleasant. We had a top floor room with views from both windows. The room was clean and the beds very comfy (Memory foam mattreses - a welcome change). Breakfast was good - buffet style. Restaurant serves typical Austrian food and at reasonable prices. The hotel is only 10 minutes walk from the old quarter, and 5 minutes from Congress (where the new funicular to Hafelekar starts). We paid GBP 70 per night B+B and I felt that was a very fair price for the facilities available. There is a small supermarket just 3 minutes walk away which is good for snacks/drinks etc.
3 easy excursions from the hotel :- 1) Funicular /cable car to Hafelekar (2300m) but costs about GBP 23pp - but if the weather is clear, the views are stunning. 2) Take the trams 1 + 6 to Igles (only costs GBP 3) and there are plenty of easy walks around the village. 3) Bergisel - the Olympic Park - bit of an uphill walk to the Ski Jump area but excellent views from the 'panorama' terrace (cost about GBP 9 pp).

Room Tip: The higher you get, the more likely you are to get good views.

“Good for a short stay...”

My family and I spent one night at the Hotel Engl just before X-Mas. We originally chose it due to the decent reviews in Tripadvisor and the moderate price we paid for a triple. The hotel's location is excellent, just across the river from the old town. That was a real plus for us since the main reason we went to Innsbruck was to visit the various Christkindlmarkts located in the city. Another plus for us was the treatment we received upon arrival...we arrived to Innsbruck at around 1100 and were allowed to check in well ahead of time. This was perfect for us because it allowed us to drop off our baggage and go exploring immediately. The room itself was nothing special, relatively cramped for two adults/two children but comfortable enough and since we weren't in Innsbruck to hang out at the hotel, we didn't mind. Breakfast is the standard European fare of pastries, cereals, meats, and cheeses which is found everywhere in Central Europe. One last positive thing about the hotel is the free parking provided about a block away from the main building. That'll save you at least 15-20 Euros.

“Average stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Me and my wife stayed at Engl hotel for 2 nights during October 2011.
The hotel is very well situated near the river and very close to Innsbruck's old town.
It is only a 5 minutes walk, which is very well appreciated if you want to move around the old town area.
The rooms of the hotel (at least the one that we have stayed) are quite small and the furniture seems quite old. The same felling you get from the other common areas such as the lobby and the breakfast area. It seems that the hotel needs an urgent renovation.
Sleeping was not undisturbed since the elevator was making a clapping noice each time that was going up & down making quite a lot of noice. The hotel owners should take care of it.
Breakfast was rather poor and not represenative.
However the staff was very polite and friendly willing at any time to solve our requests and requests.
In general I would say that this was an average but acceptable stay if you do not have high standards.

“Good place for a short visit.”

This is a good hotel. Your employees are kind and polite warmly. Well located (a short walk from the city center), its accommodations are simple but comfortable. The breakfast is reasonable.
