I was originally booked into another hotel by an Austrian colleague but decided to go for something better and chose the Goldener Adler. I'm glad that I did.

It was a relatively quiet week and there was plenty of space in the hotel. The room was on the top floor, so there was a reasonable amount of light and a view of the mountains. Service was welcoming and polite throughout - the hotel has a family-run feel. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom (no bath) was fine. Free wifi and breakfast made the cost (€140 per night) seem reasonable, given the location.

One thing I wish that I'd done was to sort out how to completely exclude noise from the room. It was only on the last (of two) morning that I discovered that the window could be made more soundproofed. Traffic is allowed in the old city early in the morning and it would have been nice not to have heard it!

Overall, I'd be delighted to go back and probably will.

We booked into this hotel for just 2 nights on our way to ski for two weeks. We had been to the Goldner Adler several times in the 1980's and always enjoyed ourselves, but a few negative reviews had us wondering if we'd made the right choice. I'm so glad that we stayed at the Goldner Adler again, and it was even better than we remembered.

In regards to arriving with a car, the Goldner Adler is no different than any other hotel in a city pedestrian district, which you find all thru Europe. We pulled right up to the hotel to get out our bags and then drove the 2 blocks to the public parking...............no BIG deal!!! The hotel is centrally located with easy access to all the Innsbruck sites.

We chose a double deluxe room, as several comments said that the rooms were small. The double deluxe was vey large, with 4 windows, a desk, sofa, large queen size bed, huge bathroom, and closet, dressing area. It was spotlessly clean, well maintained, and a perfect place to get over jet lag.

We also decided to have dinner at the Goldner Adler. Being the 6th of January, a holiday in Austria and Germany, we thought that the service might be slow. The reception reserved a table for us, and the table was ours for the night. The food was good, the service professional and attentive, and the ambiance was beautiful.........like out of a fairy tale, with the Christmas decorations still out and big, fluffy snow flakes falling outside. The breakfast was quite nice, with an assortment of breads, hams, cheeses, American scrambled eggs and bacon, cereals, yogurts, etc. It was the first time I had seen scrambled eggs and bacon at a historic hotel in Europe.

Overall it was a great stay in Innsbruck and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!!

This hotel has a great history, is well maintained and is centrally located in Innsbruck. Step outside the main doors and walk through Innsbruck's scenic downtown. Innsbruck is a very pedestrian-friendly town. You can walk for hours site seeing small shops, restaurants, pubs and general activities. Close to the the golden roof (not a big deal). The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They recommended several interesting trips. We ended up going on a white water rafting trip which was exciting. The restaurant had good quality breakfasts with a wide selection. Go visit the egg store (don't know the name} with millions of hand=painted eggs.

All the staff were exceptionally professional and friendly - they couldn't do enough for us. Rooms are spacious, immaculate and beautifully decorated. The restaurant is romantic and food and service outstanding. Location is right in the heart of the old town. We found it a bit far from the train station to walk with suitcases but the taxi is quick and costs around 7 Euros. If you want to experience an historic and beautiful hotel you must stay here!
