You can't ask for a better location for the price in Salzburg, just a stone's through away through the tunnel to the old town. The desk staff were bi-lingual and very friendly upon arrival and departure. Our room was very large and clean as others have mentioned. I do agree that the bed wasn't the most comfortable, however it was not the worst I have ever had in a hotel. Other than that I have nothing but positive comments about this hotel and we would stay here again!

Yes, it's "only" a three-star hotel, but with some hotels, that means sloppy service, surly staff, worn fittings and a poor/noisy location, but with the Star-Inn, it just means that the decor in the rooms and reception area is somewhat spartan and basic, but the service, value, location and condition of the fittings and decor is second to none.
We didn't try the breakfast, but it looked reasonable. However, we always try to find our own breakfast in a city hotel, if there is a choice not to have breakfast at the hotel - and there is a nice local cafe next door to the hotel - turn left out of reception and it's right there.
The hotel charges for parking in their underground garage, but it's well worth it, as local parking is hard to find on the street, end expensive in the nearby municipal car park. In addition, the hotel's lift means that you can bring the bags straight from their car park to your room.

Basic hotel that is clean and a stone's throw away from the old town.
Could do with better pillows. Beds are not the best but for this price, I would not make such a big fuss.
Wifi only at the reception area which could be a little irritating.
No toiletries except a handwash and a bodywash in the shower that seem to smell the same!
Nice hot showers though.
Decent sized rooms, good for plenty of luggage. Only CNN in english.
Staff could do with a dose of sunshine. Smile more perhaps?

I booked late for Salzburg in August, so was happy to get a room for our family of 4 for less than E150.

This hotel is very convenient to the old town, short walk through the tunnel and come into the old town next to the horse baths.

The beds weren't terribly comfortable, but OK. Two large beds, fine for our family. The shower was fabulous -- great water pressure. Our room was much nicer than what I was expecting based on the price we paid.

The staff was helpful and pleasant, very friendly.

We weren't going to have breakfast at the hotel, but the Spar grocery was closed by the time I wanted to go on Sat p.m. and it is not open on Sunday. We did eat breakfast here twice, and while I think E10 is a bit much for what is offered, Salzburg is more expensive in general than the other cities on our holiday, and the breakfast selection was sufficient but not abundant. The staff mentioned something about adding breakfast to the room for less cost if we had booked directly with them, but I don't know how that would have been priced. Cafes and bakeries do not seem to open until 9 & 10 (that we noticed, anyway), so if you want breakfast earlier, you should eat here.
