“Excellent hotel for a stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We stayed in this hotel in december 2011 on our way from Holland to Salzburg. We had a family room with two single beds and a bunkbed for the children. The room was fine, nice big and modern television. The cleaner had forgotten to clean the remote control (some sigarette ash on it) but for the rest the room was clean. The restaurant was good as well, good service, rustic atmosphere and simple but decent food. Breakfast was even better, a lot to choose from and all good quality.

“Clean and comfortable--but needs updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

The hotel is located for an easy drive into Salzburg and is close to the Hellbrunnn Palace. If you want to stay outside the city, but with access to the city and the surrounding area, it is a good (and better priced) place to stay. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very good. The staff was very helpful--most speak English very well. The Family Room had bunkbeds for the children, which they liked and the room had enough space. The bathroom was normal sized for European rooms, but Americans will not like the shower--with only a small glass piece to block the water it is hard to use. The rooms, though clean and comfortable, do need updating. They really need new carpet and furnishings. Room WiFi costs 7Euro per day. There is a dance/disco place on the first floor, which can be noisy on certain nights, but it was only an issue on one night of our December stay.

The restaurant serves excellent meals at very good prices! They have standard meals and season specialties.

Room Tip: Use Booking.com for a great price. Families will like the quad-room with the bunkbeds. It is on th...

“Staying in a car park”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2007

If you like staying in a hotel surrounded by a car park this is the place for you. Though reasonably priced it offered little of the welcome afforded by other Austrian hotels with a reception often not staffed, a very noisy disco, room service that appeared not to include the cleaning of the actual rooms. The restaurant staff though were helpful and friendly. Please do be aware that this hotel isn't actually in the charming village of Anif but a further 2km outside Salzburg.

“Loud, dirty chaos”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2007

Your really must stay clear of this place - the disco which the member from stuttgart mentioned below is unbelievably noisy - it certainly went on till 3 in the morning. The hotel is disorganised - often no one on reception and taxis wrongly ordered etc. Unbelievably, my room was not cleaned and I had to beg for clean towels. Be aware also it is not in anif, itself a schlep from salzburg, but a further 2km out. Possibly the worste place I have stayed in Austria.

  • Liked — a spare mattress to block out some of the noise
  • Disliked — dirty and noisy

“A Fabulous Ski Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 March 2007

person found this review helpful

Just returned from a week of skiing at the Gourmet Hotel Kaiserhof in Elmau. The hotel is situated on a plateau above Elmau with a spectacular view of the mountains (note: the road to the hotel is a little steep and windy). The Kaiserhof offers traditional Austrian half board which is breakfast and dinner. The owner and chief Chef, Herr Lambert organizes and prepares a dazzling 6 course menu with usually 2 choices for a main dish as well as a wellness menu. Drinks are not included but there is an extensive wine list. The hotel is nicely decorated in an Austrian theme, rooms nicely sized, and usually with a sitting area. The hotel has 3 different types of saunas, a full spa with make-up, facial, massage, etc., swimming pool and ski-in ski-out (snow permitting). We were lucky to get some of the best snow conditions of the season but the Ski Welt area is a little low (most parts below 2000 meters) so there is a small risk of poor conditions with a warm Winter. Even if the skiing was average, for non skiers, or during the rest of the year, there is plenty to keep yourself busy between the spa, sauna, pool, and surrounding area. The Hotel is priced at the 5-star level that it is but you certainly get what you pay for in outstanding gourmet food, impeccable service by a friendly/helpful staff, in a beautiful appointed hotel in a breathtaking setting. If you want a relaxing, gourmet ski holiday, Frau Lambert and her team will ensure you will have a vacatiuon to remember.

  • Liked — The food was outstanding.
  • Disliked — Sauna but no jacuzzi tub
