We spent a long time looking for the "right" hotel in the historic part of Salzburg and decided on the Hotel am Dom due to its recent renovation. The hotel is right in the middle of Salzburg in a small side street, easy to reach on foot and just minutes to see major attractions. Our room was nicely decorated with all amenities we could wish for. The whole room was very modern and clean, although smaller than other hotel rooms in newly built hotels. We enjoyed the helpful and accommodating staff and got to meet Josef, the General Manager, who took very good care of us. Do not miss the great breakfast that is served every morning in the lobby and take a look at the nice artwork that is all over the hallways and in the rooms. On our next trip to Salzburg we will definitely stay at Hotel am Dom again. A big Thank You to the whole staff who made our stay so unforgettable!

I took time out to spend a couple of nights in Salzburg to see the town and to go to a chamber music concert in the Marble Hall on the second night. I chose the Am Dom as a small boutique hotel, excellently positioned and as a single traveller.
The airport is very easy to get to and from by taxi and by public transport which is excellent in the city. Very friendly and professional staff made the visit really easy and comfortable and the inclusive breakfast was a great choice in a city where food is in abundance in a wide range of cafes and restaurants.
You can simply walk out of the quiet hotel onto the streets of the Altstadt near many of the interesting sights and friendly cafes. The single room was comfortable, well appointed and perfect for single occupancy. Highly recommended as was the concert in the Mirabell Castle's Marble Hall [if you are into that sort of chamber music!] which you can book online beforehand or in the city itself om the day

Nice but not fantastic. We paid extra for a room with a view but ended up with a hike to the top floor with NO windows. Our “view” was two tiny skylights, one of which had a view of a church steeple (if you stood on the bed). The bed was very comfortable. The décor was a strange mix of modern and old. There was a large hot tub in the middle of the room that would have been lovely if we were a honeymooning couple but in the way for us.

It is a stylish, excellently furnished boutique hotel. Difficult to believe that it is in a 800 year old structure but the architect has very cleverly retained visibility of the old stone structure in the breakfast room and staircases. It has the warmth of a small hotel. The Room was small because the hotel is in the heart of the historical old town but it is well appointed with good quality fittings. The only thing missing was the tea/ coffee maker in the room. The hotel serves only breakfast but the spread is good and made to order eggs were available on request. The location is excellent as most places of tourist interest are within a few minutes' walking distance.
