“An accommodation not to be missed”

We booked this accommodation online under Salzburg Card package (3 nights / 72 hr) through Salzburg Tourism website. The room is very clean, has everything we need for our entire trip including free WIFI, the service is very friendly and professional considering this is a family owned business. The owner is very attentive. They serve cold breakfast but again there are so many variety of food to choose from. The location of this place can be a bit challenging for elderly tourists especially if planning to arrive by bus as it involves 500 meters walk from the bus stop up the slope. But this can be soon forgotten as it is compensated by tranquillity of the area, the view of the mountain top and warm hospitality of the staff. The hotel is only 10 mins walk to the city or 5 mins via bus no. 6

I definitely recommend this place to anyone. I personally will definitely come back here again if I’d ever come back to Salzburg.

“Tranquilly Central”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2010

i booked this hotel over the internet and wasn't dissapointed. It's about a 15 min walk from the Old Town set in a residential quiet area. It was a bonus to leave the car at the hotel and walk into town. The rooms are adequate being modern with a balcony overlooking the Alps. The only one dissapointment was the bathroom which stated a bathtub (in the official guide), but it was a shower which was open to the toilet so if you showered the whole toilet floor was wet. Also the breakfast whilst good had no hot dishes such as scrammbled eggs or bacon which we had in every other hotel we stayed in during our Austrian trip. For a city hotel it was good with a good nights sleep to refresh one. We'd certainly stay here again.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2009

We stayed at Haus Arenberg in January with a 12, 9 and 3 year old. The hotel was wonderful and the staff were fantastic. The rooms were very roomy for Europe and well worth the cost. The family made you feel at home and were very helpful with ideas for eating and sight seeing. It is a 10 minute walk to downtown - and even with the cold and snow was extremely enjoyable. We will stay here again when we travel back to Salzburg.

“Super for Salzburg”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2008

We satyed in this charming Pension for 4 nights in the Summer of 2007 and had a very enjoyable time.

The location is excellent, with the walk to the centre of town not only quick but very pleasant.

The guest house was typically Austrian, and although the many animal heads in the breakfast room may have raised a few eyebrows they certainly added to the charm.

Our room didn't quite live up to expectations, the castle views were replaced by one of a hedge, and due to our room being in teh basement we had frequent visits from spiders etc.

Overall, this is a great place to stay and I would definately reccommend it if you are looking for affordable, quaint Austrian charm close to the centre of Salzburg.

  • Liked — proximity to centre of town
  • Disliked — lack of light in room

“fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2008

fabulous, ten minute walk from the moutainside on the outskirt of the city, wonderful view of the mountains from balcony, on arrival we were greeted by the family who run the hotel, made to feel very special - rooms are very spacious and well looked after, the breakfast was very enjoyable, really helped make our weekend one we will never forget. staff very friendly and cater to all needs if asked, and also helped with where to go etc...cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, the scenery surrounding it is wonderful.
