Room size in the Stadtkrug is adequate for the standard double, ours located on the top (4th) floor (hotel has elevator). I doubt Americans will be satisfied with their smaller room types, so I definitely would consider going with the deluxe or a suite. The bathroom had a nice long vanity counter and typical corner European shower w/ plenty of hot water. Although the TV had only 1 English channel (Bloomsburg--boo), the pillows were the typical European collapsing kind and bed the typical hard style, otherwise the room furnishings and linens were classy, in a fitting vintage Salzburg style. Breakfast was the best we had in Austria, with a big assortment of typical European cheeses, meats, breads, as well as option of bacon/sausage and type of egg from the hotel’s farm outside the city—yummy! All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel location was fantastic—the Stadtkrug is built into the Kapuzinerberg hill and its 4th floor opens out onto a terrace restaurant and cobble path to the kloster on the top (great views at sunset!). It is in the pedestrian district, a short stroll across the bridge to Old Town, without the hassle and expense of actually being in the Old Town. Only downside is difficulty getting to hotel by car: best plan is probably to take Makartplatz to Bergstrasse as get as far as possible down it, unloading there. Only other drawback was construction noise going on across the street which began at 7am, but then again all the church bells of Salzburg ringing at 6am had already woken us up!
