First the positives: The lady at the front desk was very friendly and spoke English. She told us all the best places to see in Salzburg and how to get there, giving us a map. She even laughed and joked with us, which was a breath of fresh air after dealing with cold desk clerks from other hotels. The beds were pretty comfortable, and the room was pretty spacious (we booked a three-bed room). The room included breakfast, which we were grateful for because the only business nearby was a gas station. The hotel had a restaurant, and we actually ate there. It was pretty good and very filling. But the staff was the best part. We actually left our camera behind, and they emailed us right away to tell us that they would be happy to ship it to us if we would just pay for the shipping. We thought we'd lost the camera forever, so we were very grateful for their kindness in sending back our camera.
As for the negatives, the third bed turned out to be right under the slanting part of the wall so that your head was just two feet from the ceiling. Because it was a three-bed room, it was on the top floor. But there was no elevator, which made it much more difficult with our heavy luggage. There are also a bunch of stairs that you have to climb to get up to the actual building. The lady at the front desk helped us with our luggage, which we were grateful for. But the stairs are kind of a spiral staircase, so certain stairs are tiny wedges. This made the footing difficult, and I actually slipped down three stairs when bringing my luggage down to check out. So if you're tired and don't want to climb a bunch of stairs, you might want to look elsewhere. Also, the shower head holder in the bathroom was broken, so the shower head was just kind of draped along the rod. Also, the hotel location is not ideal. There are no other businesses around (except a gas station), and public transportation from Hauptbahnhof isn't direct. It wouldn't be bad if you have a car. You can also take a taxi, which is what we did on the way back to Hauptbahnhof, which cost about 7 Euro.
Overall, I recommend the staff but I probably wouldn't stay at the hotel again unless we had just one light bag and a car to drive around in.
