The following is my letter to this terrible hotel. Please read it before you book, and if you DO book this hotel, be ready to be thrown to the street!!! Here we go:
To THE MANAGER AND STAFF OF Hotel Vogelweiderhof, Salzburg (THE WORST HOTEL SERVICE!) :
I am writing this letter to complain about your terrible service.
I had a reservation (through Vienna Hotels Online) from Aug. 12-14, 2006 for a double room. On the morning of Aug. 12, I called your hotel and informed the counter that my friend and I would arrive a bit late in the afternoon. I was told that the room was reserved for us (and the payment was guaranteed by credit card), and it was ok to arrive late.
So we arrived later that afternoon. The person at the counter was very rude. Not only he refused to speak english to us (and he pretended to understand very little english), he simply told us that our reservaton was not valid and the hotel was full. "No vacancy!!!" Then he just turned his back on us. No apology. Not a word. It was late and we were tired. You can just imagine how furious we were. Then he said we should try another hotel nearby. It turned out to be a very bad hotel. And we paid a high price because we didn't have a reservation.
Summer time is always the peak season for travelling in Europe, especially this year in Salzburg with the Mozart Festival going on. Good hotels were fully booked long long time ago. We made our booking ahead of time to ensure a good price and availability of a good hotel, and our bookings were guaranteed by credit card. Perhaps someone showed up at your hotel with NO reservation but was willing to pay a higher price...... Anyhow, I would NEVER recommend your hotel to ANYONE. Even now, after one month, my hands tremble of anger just thinking of your hotel!
Don't be surprised to see this letter at many hotel booking websites. YOU OWE ME!!!!!!
