“Bergland Hotel was just great!”

I reserved our rooms after finding the hotel on line. After already booking, I read a scathing review by a dissatisfied former guest and it worried me, but needlessly. We found it a lovely place, with congenial and helpful hosts, wonderful room with terrific amenities, full buffet breakfast, and we also enjoyed the small outdoor terrace in the late afternoon.

Our hosts/owners of the hotel were very helpful with advice about good restaurants (and ones to avoid), helped us figure out the buses, and otherwise had great advice about local sites. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. It is a bit of a walk from the "Old Town" if you aren't used to walking a lot, but it was fine for us. It was in a quieter part of town, and we appreciated that!

Don't listen to the nay-sayers. Everyone makes their own experience, through the attitude they bring with them when they travel. I would recommend the Bergland to anyone who visits Salzburg.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper and you want to leave the windows open, be aware that the street is a lit...

“Great hotel”

This hotel was lovely with a small terrace where we sat and had a pre dinner drink every night. Room for three was HUGE. Very comfortable and breakfast also excellent. The young woman who greeted us was an absolute treasure - nothing was too much trouble including making me a cup of tea one night. Will definitely go back there

“A great Salzburg hotel in a quiet location”

We stayed at the Berglandhotel recently, and were more than satisfied with the experience. We had a huge room that looked out on a little garden area. All front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great, and for dinner there were plenty of good and reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance. We ate Thai, Indian, and Austrian (Die Weisse) during our 3 night stay. We parked our car out front and left it there for our time in Salzburg. It's only a 15 minute walk to the historic area, so it's easily accessible. If you like to hike, as we do, there's a huge hill nearby called Kapuzinerberg, with plenty of paths to hike and great views. We even found books to trade for the ones we'd finished (in English) at the wifi lounge.

“Nice hotel, a couple of blocks from some nice beer gardens.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

We had a very comfortable stay at the Bergland hotel. As others have noted, it is a short walk to the old town, and even closer to some nice beer gardens with good food (Die Weisse is just down the street). The staff is very pleasant, we were able to park our rental car in a hotel reserved space in front for no extra charge, and the included breakfast was very good. Although they supposedly have wifi connections in the rooms, it was too weak for our laptop and we had to go to the lobby floor to use it, but they have a very comfortable lounge with books and a piano that worked well for surfing.

Room Tip: Rooms away from Rupertgasse are probably quieter.

“Salzburg Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

We found this hotel to be conveniently located within 1 km of the Old town centre and a very picturesque setting .Breakfast was typically an Austria affair of cold meats, cheeses, cereals, eggs and pastries. The staff were very helpful and fluent in English. Restaurant ideas and maps were provided by the staff as most restaurants are closed on Sundays. You can even get a nice glass of wine to have in the library room. Bedrooms are well appointed with typical European bathrooms. We would recommend this lovely hotel to anyone. Elevator is a plus and On-site parking is a bonus but limited .
