This is our second stay at the Wolf-Dietrich. It is a lovely hotel with helpful service. The #4 bus stops at Wolf-Dietrich street, so you would walk 1.5 blocks to catch it to Old Town/Festival Hall and only .5 blocks returning. The front desk person can print you a schedule from that stop on request. It only takes about 6 minutes to Old Town. I would recommend one of the romantic rooms such as the Magic Flute room. It is unlike any room you have ever stayed in with blue sky carpet in the bed room; theater curtains all around, even framing the bedroom from the living area; star lights above the bed in arcs and in the bathroom ceiling; an elongated tub with the bath area separated by a dramatic curtain; a stereo system with sound that went into both rooms; paintings of Egyptian pyramids all around.

The Wolf-Dietrich is a fantastic place to stay in Salzburg. There are so many positives; size of the room, location, amenities, staff...it was really a great experience. From the moment we checked in we were treated as special guests, not just another group paying for another room. The front desk staff was very helpful in giving us tips and pointing us in the right direction for things to do in the city.

There is a large selection of movies that can be borrowed if you need a couple of hours of downtime after touring the city.

The location is ideal for exploring the town; close enough to walk to everything, but not so close that you have to fight crowds to get into your room.

We stayed here for one night, and found it satisfactory though could improve a couple of minor things. The location is perfect though, it is right next to a pedestrian street which leads down to the river and has many good shops and restaurants. It's also near the start of the Sound of Music Tour.
We were across the road from the main hotel, and we had a very large room, with quite a small bathroom. No big complaints, although it wasn't the most comfortable bed for me (my partner thought it was fine). They could improve the room a lot by having more lights, it's very dark, especially the bathroom! Also, the wifi signal is very weak, it hardly worked at all in the room.
The breakfast was really great, lots of variety and good quality. Also they offer a nice afternoon tea with cakes for guests. Staff on reception were very helpful and friendly!
I would recommend people to stay here, though perhaps the rooms in the main hotel are a bit better than ours.

The Wolf-Dietrich ticks our boxes - character, convenience, and true value for money. There's a quirky, comfortable flair to the shared areas ( a quick dip in the pool is a must!) and our rooms in the "residenz" were fantastic. They met the lengthy list of generous room size, pleasant decorative scheme, large flat screen TV, wifi (password simply offered, no additional charge); generous hanging spaces; shower/bath with good hot water and pressure; comfortable beds; thoughtful lighting; quiet location; and well heated. When you mix in a generous buffet breakfast, "drop in" afternoon tea (no charge), and excellent staff service, it's a very reasonably priced winner. You're about 7 minutes easy stroll (mainly down a cobbled street) to the old town. You're also on the right side of the river for the Mirabell Gardens, Mozart's residenz, and some lovely cafes and restaurants. All in all, we loved it.
