We booked this hotel during Christmas 2011, and it exceeded our expectations in most respects. First, it is in a very good location. It is an easy walk from the train station even with luggage, and it is only about a 15 minute walk to the old city. However, if you want to use public transportation, it is a very short and reasonably priced (5 Euros for a 24 hour pass) bus ride. You can use buses 3, 5, or 6 to reach the Old City, so there is rarely much of a wait.

Second, the rooms were spacious, comfortable, clean, and charming. There is a refrigerator in the room, a coffee pot, and a television (not HDTV) with local channels. Interestingly, one of the channels has the Sound of Music on demand. The rooms have free Wi-Fi, which is becoming increasingly rare in Europe. As comfortable as we were, there is no convenient place for luggage. Basically, we had to leave them on the floor, which can clutter the room a bit.

Third, the staff was outstanding. They helped us with the bus system, provided details on good places to eat, provided a helpful map of the city, and even made some phone calls to restaurants for us to help us with reservations. They also took some special efforts to make our stay more enjoyable for Christmas. The lobby had a real Christmas tree and a table with complementary mulled wine, hot punch, cookies, and bottled water around the clock.

Overall, we were quite pleased and would stay here again.

We spent a couple of days in Saltzburg in November a delightful town--the room we had had some character and we were quite pleased--however the staff were another thing--while they were polite we found that they were not entirely helpful in giving directions.Also we got a surprise when we checked out--we assumed that breakfast was included when they gave us vouchers--however this was not the case--we would have saved considerable amounts eating across the street at the mall--so watch out--the location is also not the best for easy access to downtown but then everything is not that far. We always felt that they were doing us a favour in speaking with us!The restaurant had a good menu and the food was decent--- service there was good.

This hotel lived up to it's reviews. Room was well appointed and the sauna/spa area was very well maintained.
This property does offer breakfast for a surcharge. The front desk staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel is well situated near the Hauptbahnhof and within walking distance of all the sites. December is a great time to go with all the Christmas/Advent Markets. The
