Celebrated Christmas at this hotel. A charming hotel in the old part of town. Christmas markets, shops, outdoor ice skating rink etc were just around the corner. The family who run this place are helpful and friendly, if a little formal at times. Breakfast was plentiful. We loved the basket of bread that was on the table, and always ended up eating more than we should. This hotel didn't steal our hearts but it was lovely and I certainly would recommend it to others because of its location and age.

We arrived in Salzburg by train. Altstadthotel Weiss Taube is about 20 minutes flat walk from rail station, located in the car free section of the old town.
The hotels location is excellent, being within walking distance to all of Salzburg's attractions and also there was a great choice of restaurants in the same street and vicinity.
Very friendly, helpful reception with  very easy check in/check out.
There is a nominal cost for wi-fi access.
We were given the choice of a room serviced by the  elevator or a room with a view not serviced by the elevator.  We chose the latter and we were rewarded with a beautiful view of the castle.
Our room and ensuite was large, very clean and well maintained with tea/coffee making facilities and a safe.
The breakfast, consisting of meats and cheeses and selection of rolls and bread, juice, yogurt and coffee was served by the staff. This was supplemented by additional fruit, tomato and pastry self service.
All staff we encountered were charming and helpful.
We would recommend this hotel.

Stayed here in December 2011 while visiting christmas markets, etc. The location is very good and very central and the rooms and facilities are nice. The breakfast is one they bring to you, with an option of having them bring some deli meat or cheese or bread, but things like eggs, cooked meats etc are extra. We didn't feel the breakfast options were as good as other b&bs we stayed at in nearby germany, but might stay here again if in salzburg just based on location

We spent 3 nights here and enjoyed our stay immensely. Our room was quite spacious and well set up with a desk as well as an easy chair. The bathroom was miniscule but this is Europe. Everything in it worked just fine. It was really easy to get here on the bus from the train station. The website had excellent directions. The location is awesome. We were only a few minutes from everything we wanted to see and do. The staff was so helpful, found wonderful places for us to eat dinner, and answered all our questions. They even provided one free internet code for us to use. We never needed another as the 3 hours was sufficient for our needs. 1 Euro for 3 hours was reasonable enough, though. There were also some delicious cookies at the desk and I am afraid we sampled more of them than we should have. Breakfast was ample and served at the table. We certainly would recommend this hotel to others.
