The Stoiser is part of the same, small family-run hotel group that includes the impressive spa resort hotel in Loipersdorf.
I'd travelled down from Vienna especially early in order to maximise my time in Graz, and the early check-in posed no problem to the friendly receptionist.

LOCATION: The hotel is situated in one of the greenest and most pleasant parts of the city, but also one of the most peaceful.
The picturesque tram journey from Teichhof (the nearest tram stop) down to Tinsel Town (the city centre) takes around 20 minutes.
Judging by some of the palatial type properties, it's a fair guess to assume that this district is where the moneyed denizens hangout!
The hotel itself is a few minutes by foot from Teichhof and lays on a fairly busy road (Mariatrosterstrasse).
Light sleepers should avoid at all costs a front facing room!
The magnificent "Mariatrost Basilica" church (a true baroque gem among pilgrim churches) is a short walk away, but there is little else ( apart from the beautiful scenery) in the near surrounding.
Funseekers looking for a vibrant nightlife will be bitterly disappointed, but if peace and quiet are your prerequisites, this is the neighbourhood for you!

CHECK IN/OUT: A totally friendly and painless process!
All the staff were very charming!

ROOM: I was given a decent size double room that was located at the front of the hotel.
The traffic noise didn't inconvenience me at all, as I was out in the city all day and the wonderfully, medicinal Austrian Bier ensured that I received a sound nights sleep!
The decor of the room had an airy feel to it, and provided a comfortable double bed and smart furniture.
The bathroom was of medium size, and like the room was very clean.
Sat-TV and a good size of fridge were definitely plus points, although I didn't spend a great deal of time in the room to make full use of either.

BREAKFAST: This was a "Continental style" cold buffet that was served in a small area on the ground floor.
Good coffee, freshly baked rolls/bread and a delicious, but limited selection of cheeses and cold-cuts.
A few different types of cereals and jams were on offer, but no hot options.
If your like me, and crave a greasy fry-up (as well as the Continental) in order to soak up the previous evenings excesses, then you'll be disappointed!
The limited food and beverages that were on offer, were all of the highest quality, but more like something that would be provided at a Pension and not a four star hotel.

CONCLUSION: Upon reflection, I think three star superior would better categorize this hotel, although I couldn't find any serious reason to complain about anything.
Having stayed now in a number of Graz hotels, I think that the Stoiser must sit somewhere between the Ibis and the Austria Trend Europa.
The location could prove time consuming if your only in Graz for a few days and want to explore the city centre, but if your staying for five nights or more and buy a laughably cheap weekly transport ticket, the nightly rate saving of staying a little way out at the Stoiser could be an ideal choice.
A recommended hotel for £38 pn inclusive breakfast and taxes!
