Blackmage believes it is not how you get into trouble that counts, it's how you get out of it. When we arrived on Friday around mid day, I was told that due to an error in the booking they only had a single room for us that night (we were booked for two.) I explained I had booked a long time ago and that I was not prepared to accept this. A minute later they offered us either a double for two nights, which is what we had booked, or we could stay in the single for one night, which had a standard bed anyway plus we could then stay in a suite the next. This we chose. The single was adequate and the suite was enormous, with a double bedroom and living room/MedievalHall you could have held a ball in. We usually book with breakfast, but they also included breakfast in the upgrade, which at 13 Euros per person was a good way of also making up for the original error. Well done indeed. The Hotel itself is neither modern or 5 star luxury, but a charming old four star hotel which is exactly what we wanted. When Blackmage travels for business, he wants a modern hotel, but for pleasure, prefers charm.
Location is excellent, very close to the Dom (Cathedral), Mausoleum, the confusingly named Burg (because a Burg it most certainly is not!) all the quaint little streets and alleyways and yet only a few minutes to the centre on foot. It is close to all major attractions and yet it is quietly situated. A 5 minute walk takes you to the Airport Bus Stop, which is very convenient.
Breakfast was definitely hearty, keeping the Mages well contented until evening. The usual buffet fare, but of the higher quality expected in a good Austrian hotel.
Only slight niggle/advice: the showers appear to have been decommissioned from the Space Shuttles with all sorts of nozzles and adjustments and it is worth working out how they function BEFORE stepping in and getting a very invigorating cold water massage they usually deal out in the more brutal Spas!
