The hotel is midrange, but has a character. An old charm. Not a luxury, but exceptionally clean and well maintained. Free internet, which is fast. Breakfast included. Attentive helpful staff. The hotel is on a quet street in the central core. 5min walk to the central square or the opera and the train station. Graz has a number of antique stores, uscale fashion stores, opera and few museums. Also, you can do wine country exploration, either on your own rentinfg a car, or with the tourist office. Their tour is on Saturdays, 2PM. Give them a call to book a seat. The wine country was a big surprise for us, it looked actulally prettier than Tuscany. Their unique feature is auslesse wines - sweet wines of "late harvest" type. The white dry wines are aslo good, but not that unique. If you like Gewurstraminer wine, their traminer is different, I'd say better, with some rose notes. Out of the museums, the most impressive is the Armoury. I have never seen so much armour in one place. The thing, which was a bit annoying that everything is in German without even short remarks in English. We travel all over and this was unusual. Most countries accept that their language is not as universal. (English is not our first language either)

We really enjoyed this hotel; great location (slightly noisy on a weekend night, but just close the window). Great character. Graz was a great trip that included Vienna & Salzburg and worth the train travel to get there.
We stayed in one of the suites, very reasonably priced.

My wife and I stayed there for almost a week attending a conference. We moved there after our first hotel proved extremely disappointing. The Hotel zum Dom was the opposite. Each room was nicely appointed, comfortable beds, an excellent staff, a very nice wine bar in the hotel. The breakfast was great, a very large selection, typical of fine German-Austrian hotels. They even cooked eggs to you specifications. The hotel is close to all the main tourist attractions and yet is quiet. A very fine experience.

We were positively surpriced by the room: we had booked a standard room, but being upgraded we had a suit consisting in a veritable living room including a small fully eguipped kitchen and a seperate sleeping room. The bathroom was perfect, like at home.
The personell was competent and extremly friendly. The breakfast was excellent, real 4* quality.
Down town is within a few minutes walk, the "DOM" (cathedral) just over the road.
We could park the car nearby, but the hotel provides parking for € 14.- per night in a near public undergroud parkig.
Definitely, we would like to stay again!
