“The location alone is worth the stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

The Mariahilf hotel is located downtown Graz, only minutes away from the sights of the city. It is a cosy 2-3 stars hotel in older style that invites you to a pleasant romantic stay.

POSITIVE ASPECTS
The location. The train station, the old town district, the castle hill and the house of arts are all within immediate walking distance. The upper floor rooms offer a lovely view towards the hill.

NEGATIVE ASPECTS
Arriving by car is a task, because the hotel is situated on a walking street and parking places are limited. The rooms are equipped with the very basics (a bed, a TV and a bathroom) but expect no further luxuries.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
A tram stop is located 50m from the hotel, with several tram lines going in all directions. The train station of Graz is 10-15 minutes away on foot.

CONCLUSION
A friendly, lower middle class hotel with all the basics you need for a few nights stay. Recommended for couples and city explorers. Not recommended for business travellers.

“Worse expirience ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2010

wanted just a sleepover hotel in Graz and entered this hotel cause of its convenient location in the middle of the city center. We should have guessed the standard was not good by the smell in the reception, dirty carpets, and young receptionist inconveniently dressed in white summer dress with a push up. But we were tired, wanted to have a good night sleep before a long trip awaiting the morning after, and thought: "how bad can it be, we are in beautiful Austria". We entered the room, it was bad quality of beds, no AC (it was 30 C degrees that night), smallest TV ever, no shower cream, no refrigerator. Since no AC, we had to keep the windows widely open, to be met by loud Graz nigh life and a private party just across our window ( the windows open, and loud teenager with loud techno music on). would be very nice otherwise but not for our purpose of the visit. We got frustrated, wanted to get a refund for the 78 Euro we had to pay in advance(?) but the teenage push-up girl refused and just offered another room (with as bad beds, and soaps, etc). after change of stuff after 23.00 o'clock a nicer guy agreed on change of the room facing the back yard instead. But there again the church nearby was getting renovated so trucks going back and forward making noise (open windows!) making us not getting any sleep that nigh. Breakfast was very poor, at that point expected but when I asked for a doubble espresso instead of normal coffee and she arrogantly said NO, I just wanted to run away from that place. So please do not go there if you want to have a nice stay in Graz.

“Great location, clean hotel and friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2009

Excellent hotel as I wanted to be near the Schlossberg for a concert. Very clean rooms - fairly basic but delighted to have stayed here for 3 nights. Plenty of restaurants within 10 minutes walk. Very quiet room at the back - never heard noise within hotel. Would certainly go back.

“Not a modern hotel, but not much to pick fault with.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2009

Location is perfect and central, although due to the hotel being tucked down a small street, I had a little difficulty finding it the first time. Lobby is old fashioned and rooms and atmosphere of hotel a little dated. Those who like character in a hotel will be pleased though; I must confess I do prefer more modern hotels though. Room was good size, very clean, lovely bed and functional if dated bathroom. Staff were tremendously friendly. A little noisy in my room (all from outside) but you cannot avoid this in central Graz. A pleasant stay.

“Ideal City venue at a very good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2009

Easy access to the tram line to travel throughout the City.
Local cafes and bars close but not noisy.
No resturant in the hotel but the breakfast dining room is comfortable and the foods are varied and plentiful.
Very quiet in the hotel due to it being an old building and thick walls.
There was an electric fan provided in my room that I was grateful for.
