At the end of May I had a business meeting in Graz. The small congress was organized at Austria Trend Hotel Europa Graz so I have chosen to stay at this hotel. The location of the hotel is excellent since it is very near to the train station. The room was very clean with a big bathroom. It has an air condition but you can always switch off and open the windows. They are very noise redundant because the street in front of the hotel is very busy all the time but from the room you can not hear the noise. The buffet breakfast was nice with a wide range. At the check in you get a credit card size key that you can put in in you wallet. The center of the town is not far from the hotel (20 min walk) and there are several trams that are going in the center.
The hotel is a nice business type hotel and it is very convenient if you are using the train station.

The hotel is member of a big hotel chain. Reception tries to be nice, but is overcharged to check you in. I got a room which was already occupied by somebody. In the alley was a suitcase broken open and just lying there. The rooms were o.k. Breakfast was very poor, no fresh fruit, no fresh rolls a very limited choice. Tee they had only the cheapest.... And all this for 136,- a very poor performance. With check out they were not able to write an address directly from the business card in the system for the invoice. That the hotel faces two very busy streets does at the end not matter any more!

Stayed for one night and will not return. Was asked to give a credit card upon checking in. Still somewhat unusual in hotels of German speaking Europe for guests from neighboring countries, except hotels of international chains. Could not comply since I was temporarily without card. Behavior of the rather snobbish lady at the front desk worsened. Was requested to pay in advance and had no problem with that. Moved into the room and noticed that the minibar had been cleared out and the cooling unit deactivated... Other problems: Jalousie broken, heavy traffic noise around-the-clock from the main street in front of the hotel.

I did not appreciate this hotel's attitude towards its guests and the bad value for money there.

Trend Hotel Europa in Graz was OK - very clean, very comfortable beds, tiny bath towels, fairly boring and anonymous, bad English slogan ("Service To Feel Well"), good buffet breakfast of meat, cheese, smoked salmon, bread and rolls, pastries, juice etc. - essentially all the usual trappings of an Austrian hotel chain.

Parking was 13 euros extra, and heating was off in hotel (technicians hadn't turned it on yet after the summer).

Would neither avoid nor go out of my way to repeat.
