“Cozy elegance with a heartful service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

Probably not the lastest furnishing and luxury perks, but still conveniently located. I was upgraded to a suite, so my perspective is surely influenced by this factor. Nevertheless, staff is friendly and professional and free WLAN is provided everywhere and without the annoyng passwords and user names. Right next to the hotel is a supermarket filled with delicacies and near to real Austrian cafes. Breakfast is quite late (7 AM), which does not necessarily makes it ideal for business trips. My rate is corporate, so I cannot really comment on the price/value aspect. So far, however I am quite pleased. Another negative aspect is that they do not participate in flight mileage programs, which is indeed not a plus.

Room Tip: Try to get an upgrade

“So so but the not the best in Graz”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

This is the second time we've stayed here so it can't be that bad! Ideally situated in the centre of the city, but the drawback of this is noise: whilst we were there roadworks just outside as well as the usual late night revellers. Very comfortable room, with high standards of cleanliness. Unlike another reviewer, we didn't find it in need of a refurb; loved the combination of modern bathroom and antique bedroom furniture. Rooms can be a little hot in summer, although a large fan is provided. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful, but not all.

“Great location, large rooms, but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2011

renovations in the 80's killed the charm of the bar and courtyard restaurant. Decor oddly put together, breakfast uninspiring. There's got to be better options in this beautiful city.

“Grand Old Building, disapointing Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2011

Overall this hotel was not worth it's price and doesnt deserve it star rating. Firstly the positves - the hotel is centrally located and handy for most of the city centre and the staff are reasonably friendly. The hotel is located in a building which used to be a palace but the decor is looking very shabby and the rooms could do with a refurb.

The room was clean and fairly spacious but the bed was not comfy and the television was tiny. The wood flooring in the room was dirty complete with a dirty rug and the bathroom wasn't big. Breakfast was only ok, though it was served in a nice conservatory style room. The bar area for the hotel is quite small and the drinks are quite expensive.
Overall I would not recommend this hotel as there must be better value hotels in Graz.

“avoid - Hotel had it's best time in last century”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2010

Stayed there two nights for a conference. The location as well as the service provided including the breakfast was good, however the rooms possible have not been renovated for the past 30 years (Bathroom w/o window or air con, no shower curtain, OLD). The matrass was with a hollow so one could not have a comfortable sleep.
The Hotel rates itself as a 4*, however I would not give him one. It certainly was a germ in the last century however the owner have not invested in keeping it to todays standard.
As a frequent traveller my recommendation is to avoid this Holel.
