Hotel is in a good location near the old centre and definately has more potential. The reception and bar has a cool buzzy feel but our room was a let down although we had been upgraded. We were put into a room adjoining to a room next door occupied by afamily and noisy children thumping around the room at midnight. We learned later that our room had not been modernised but other touches could have been improved upon - quilts were skinny to say the least and the cushions were far too soft. Bathroom although clean was basic. No instructions on how to work the heating which meant we were cold. Yes, we could have asked but did not feel like doing so late at night and this should have been attended to at the outset. Staff friendly and organised alate check out with no problem. Would stayagain due to location but would ask to stay in a renovated room next time. The whole hotel should be renovated though and better sound proofing between adjoining rooms

This hotel is right on the bank of the MUR, the river that flows through Graz,
and some of the 89 Euro/night standard rooms have a great view over the river
and the old city on the other side. It's a 5 minute walk to the Hauptplatz, the main square of Graz ( a beautiful square, together with the main shopping street, the Herrengasse, originating from the same square).

Rooms are huge, and are quite modern, with flat screen TV's etc..have good beds, free internet. 10 Euro to park in the adjacent garage, If you want room service, they bring meals from one of Graz' best restaurants, in the same building, adjacent to the hotel; Der Steirer.
Innovative food (Austrian cuisine otherwise can be a little bland, with all that Wienerschnitzel etc), at attractive prices. Good and prompt service overall.

This hotel was choosen by my fiancee after much research on tripadvisor.
The location is great, in fact, we walked to the hotel from the Graz trainstation which took 20 mins, you can take bus if you wish or tram...
On arrival check in didn't take long at all, the lady was friendly and very informative.
The town is a quick 10 min walk across the river, and there are some nice restaurants nearby.
We stayed in one of the cheaper rooms, 69 euroes a night.
The room itself is nice enough, big bathroom, big bathtub with a showerhead.
The carpets look like they've seen better days, and so do the walls, nonetheless, the room was clean and spotless.
Beds are of great size, in fact two singlebeds pushedtogether, but still makes its a great size for two people, especially if one has the cold.
We missed a kettle and coffee making facilities to be honest, otherwise we would have voted excellent.
If you want to stay in Graz cheaply and conviniently this is the place.
Excellent wifi access, too.

My experience at this hotel was quite satisfactory for a single night (would not choose it for a longer stay though). The building is really quite large, and it seems that the category of rooms you choose make a difference to what you get.

PROS:
The service was quite good. The receptionists were very pleasant and quick to respond to our needs. We were originally given the wrong single room, but quickly transferred to the requested double.

Location is pretty good being right across the river from old town.

Although located at a major street (constant traffic), it is possible to get a room that faces inner courtyard and is really quiet. We slept with our windows open.

Breakfast was dissent. A lot better then i expected, with ample choices of standard supermarket quality foods. The breakfast room (and lobby) are attractive and well maintained.

Mini-bar in the room was handy and the beds were comfortable.

Low price.


CONS:
The rooms really are tired, worn out and outdated. The furniture shows signs of serious abuse. The carpets are really old with stains that are resistant to cleaning.

My biggest complaint - strong mildew odor in the shower/bathroom. We were on a second floor, so i was surprised at its severity. Also the half-sized glass divider was not properly secured to the bath tub, thus flooding the bathroom floor during the shower.

When we left our luggage in the hotel prior to checkout it was kept in unsecured/unlocked room. With the hotel this size and heavy human traffic that was worrisome.

The rooftop terrace mentioned on a website is just a very claustrophobic and tiny rooftop space (not a terrace by any stretch)

This is minor , but the property is a maze. To get to our room on a second floor we had to take two elevators and then hike through a dark hallway.
