“Fantastic little hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

We stayed for almost 3 months. What we mostly appreciated was the fact that it did not feel like a hotel. The rooms are very cozy, the stuff very friendly and we had an overall feeling of almost "being at home". The locations is great, just a few steps away from the Danube river and extremely close to the city center.

Dear guest,
thanks a lot for taking your time to give us some feedback about our hotel and our service and staff! We are very happy to hear that you had a nice stay and liked our (yes a bit unusual) hotel.
I am very sorry to hear that our housekeeping stuff interrupted you in the morning and didn't clean up your room later. I already discussed this matter with them so this wan't happen again. But thanks a lot for letting us know. As we constantly try to improve our service, feedback from our guests is crucial and much appreciated.
Best greetings and hope to see you again at our hotel,
Victoria

“Fantastic hotel shame about location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011 via mobile

Have just stayed two nights in this hotel. Principally in Linz on business. Hotel is a little unusual in that the entrance to the hotel is a side door next to a bar. Dont let this less than auspicious start put you off though as once you get to your room (mine was 208) it all seems worthwhile. With high ceilings and with modern furniture and very stylish artwork my room was a very nice surprise indeed. My room was at the back of the hotel and I still heard some traffic noise so I would suggest that if you stay you ask to be placed at the back rather than the front because I can imagine the traffic noise would be insufferablly loud if you are overlooking the busy road at the front A minor gripe was after the first night house keeping knocked on my door at 8.15 am to clean my room. I was still getting ready so was not ready to let them in and asked them to return later. They never did! Maybe my request was lost in translation. Breakfast is plentiful with a wide continental selection. Also the hotel provide free wifi which should be commended. As for location whilst you are literally just over the other side of the bridge from the 'action' namely a 5/10 minute walk it seems as though you are miles away with a lack of passing by taxis noticeable in particular. Would I return to Linz again aside from business reasons ......probably not. If however I did I would certainly contemplate returning to this hotel despite the minor irritants highlighted above.

“special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

I booked the hotel for a special purpose - we wanted to celebrate 15th wedding anniversary, so I booked the Design Suite. I also wrote to the hotel, that I needed to arrange flowers reminding my wife of her wedding flowers. I sent them a picture of the wedding flower. I got a promt response which was reassuring. When we arrived, everything was prepared, the flowers were next to bed, as requested. The room was perfect for the occasion, feeling like a nice apartment, not a nameless hotel. The staff was very helpful in recommending us a place to eat for the occasion, it was a about 10 minutes walk, just accross the bridge to the city center. Later after dinner, we had a couple of drinks in the hotel lobby bar, which has a bit of a retro feel, quite quirky but fun.
I would highly recomment the hotel for its special non-hotel like feel, great and helpful staff and a convenient location.

Tomas

“We loved this slightly quirky hotel in Linz”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

We loved this slightly quirky hotel in Haupt Strasse, Linz. The location is great. The location is great. It lies in the centre over the Danube bridge to the Haupt Platz - Main Square and next to the Ars-Electronica museum. – a super modern building, multiply lit after dark. You can take a tram from the main station straight to the hotel, it’s just a short distance to Rudolf Strasse and Billa supermarket stop. Not far away behind the hotel is the Danube river, with walkways, cycle paths, benches and barbeque sites and odd steps structure to sit on belonging to the Ars-Electronica. The New Town Hall is just opposite.

The small lobby reception is staffed with friendly, knowledgeable young people who speak excellent English, give you excellent advice and lend you an umbrella when it’s raining (yes, it can rain in Linz – even in summer!). There are old fashioned touches with old-fashioned railings on the stairs, and oldy doorways.
The lift takes you to the 3rd floor – when we opened the door we could not believe the space of our loft apartment, with the light pouring in from corner windows, side windows and circular porthole windows in the ceiling. On the large oddly shaped parquet floor were a sofa, coffee table, side table fridge and a coffee machine that somehow eluded our best efforts to fathom it out throughout our stay. Taking pride of place in the middle of the room was a large deep, curtained bath tub with a shower. A distorted cubist portrait of a lady stared at us knowingly from the wall.
The separate double bedroom was comfortable with interesting glass painted lighting and a small WC provided for needed privacy. The plumbing seemed a little tired and the room could be hot, even with all the windows open.
The service by an English speaking tattooed chamber “woman” was friendly and excellent.

An adequate breakfast was served by various male breakfast people on the first floor in a black and white room decorated with white painted deer antlers, a collection of porcelain cows and a ginormous plant pot. The Landgraf Hotel & Loft was a great experience and we would recommend it to all our friends and anyone looking for an just a slightly unusual not at all “plasticky” , friendly and comfortable base with lots of space.

Room Tip: We recomend you use public transport which is simple and convenient.. We had room 305 to the back.

“odd, but in a good way!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

This place is quite strange but enjoyable. We stayed in a suite - large living room, with bath/shower and basin in it (separate loo, and separate bedroom) and lots of empty space. Not all of the windows had curtains, so it's not the place to wander around naked with the lights on. No air con, and the road gets quite noisy, but it was a good place to flop (on our comfy sofa) after a day's sightseeing. The main square is a short walk away across the Danube and the Ars Electronica centre is almost next door. Trams stop very close by.
