“Average characterless Hotel in above average setting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2010

We stayed here for one night on a Great Rail Journey en route to Vienna, but in temps over 30 degrees it was enough. The "air conditioning" is only air CIRCULATION so did not cool the room down. We actually found it better to prop the window open and get a bit of a breeze as we were on an upper floor, but we did get a bit of noise as we were overlooking the car park and road. The building is a dated uninteresting lump which cannot be accessed by coach due to a car park barrier, so we had to drag our luggage from a lower level to reception (where there is a very friendly dog!). As always in Germany and Austria although the bed was comfortable, we had to ask for extra pillows, and there is no free Wi-fi but there is a computer "cupboard" in reception where you can check emails. Our group evening meal was nothing special, but the breakfast buffet was an excellent hot and cold selection with the added bonus of being able to eat outside on the terrace overlooking the Danube. They really need to address the outside smoking issue, especially at mealtimes, as we were downwind of several smokers and it really wasn't very pleasant. The only reason I can see for staying at this hotel is the location as it stands right on the banks of the Danube with lawns down to the river, but you would need a river view room to get the best of the place.

“Great View”

From the reviews we were a little hesitant about booking this hotel. We need not have been. We had a room on the 9th floor with a 180 degree view of the Danube. The rooms were clean and neat. The hotel is certainly not right in the middle of town, but we loved our short ten minute walk along the banks of the Danube and our view of the many tourist boats moored at the river's edge. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel and were lucky to find a fabulous bakery 5 minutes away that served breakfast (complete with freshly cooked egg dishes- the best ham and eggs) less than five minutes walk away. We did have one dinner on the hotel's terrace for a special treat. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. Certainly it caters more for business than tourists, but we were made to feel very welcome. I would certainly recommend this hotel for the leisure traveller.

“lovely bar -great views.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2008

The Hotel website was a bit confusing and I had to call the hotel to confirm I had booked the right number of rooms, but it was offering the cheapest deal.

The Bar was cosy and filled with different sized tables and we always managed to find a table for 5 of us. The view of the Danube from the bar is lovely especially at night.

We stayed in the cheapest rooms which were adequate for 2 night stay, although tea/coffee making facilities would have been nice. There were 2 single beds in all the rooms ( we had 3 rooms) and 2 of them had a side view of the Danube. The bathroom was clean and had a bath with shower over, basin and toilet.

We missed Breakfast in the main restaurant which finished at 10 so we had a buffet breakfast in the bar which ended at 12, they offered freshly cooked eggs and ham in addition to the cereal, yogurt, cake, ham, salami, cheese and bread etc. Very nice.

It was a little far from where the ryan air bus drops off in town, but if you dont mind a bit of a walk its a cheaper option than getting a taxi.

“Decent as a Business Type Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2008

I stayed here during my honeymoon on the way to Salzburg from Vienna. It is a rather character-less business type of hotel which suited our needs fine. The location was good. There was a huge empty parking lot out front of the hotel that we had to pay 13 Euro to park in. Also, breakfast was 14 Euro! I would definitely skip that. Overall a fine stay but I would rather have stayed in a hotel that catered more to the desires of a tourist rather than business person that can expense everything and doesn't care as much for character.

  • Liked — Cleanliness, staff
  • Disliked — charged too much for parking, breakfast

“Great view over Danube, 10 mins walk to centre of Linz”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2006

Stayed here for 2 days at the end of August as a stopover on my way from Vienna to Salzburg. Linz is well worth visiting for a couple of days and I can recommend this hotel for comfort and convenience. Ask for a room with a Danube view if possible and on one of the upper floors. This hotel has a great buffet breakfast, the best of the 3 hotels I stayed in in Austria and I also ate dinner in the restaurant one night which was excellent but a little bit expensive. The hotel is nicely located on the banks of the Danube and is only 10 mins walk into the centre of Linz, it is very well run and staff are courteous and helpful, would stay here again if I ever find myself back in Linz.
