We loved this little hotel. We stayed in a beautiful, large, comfy room (#5) on the top floor of the pension, with a spectacular view overlooking lake and mountains. We were traveling with two college aged kids and normally like to get two rooms, but this room had two separate areas for the kids to have some privacy. The room had a sitting area and a desk. It was filled with light from two exposures. We really liked the couple that runs the pension; so helpful with parking, restaurant recommendations, things to do in the area, etc. Their pension is actually a little museum as well, it was really interesting and we enjoyed looking at the artifacts and reading the articles that accompanied them.

We only stayed one night but wished we had stayed longer, as the area is gorgeous and there was plenty to do. I would definitely stay here again. The views from this special place are fantastic; some of the best I've ever seen.

I hope anyone considering Pension Hallberg disregards the poor review from March 2010. The Singaporean reviewer did not make the booking at the Pension Hallberg, did not even stay at the Pension Hallberg, and seemed to have no concept of the fact that (1) the owners are under little obligation of responding to a person whose name is not even on the reservation and (2) don't speak English as their first language. The reviewer's own personal cultural sensitivity shows in the fact that she seems to think Eckbert is a "she" - it is a German MALE name. Not to mention that Singaporeans are known for complaining - I have no idea why, but even the newspapers in Singapore sometimes discuss the "nation of complainers" issue. In fact, my Singaporean husband regularly dismisses any negative trip advisor reviews from Singaporeans that use the kind of superlatives and extremes that the March 2010 review did, as he finds them the most unreliable of all.

In any event, we had a perfect stay at the Pension Hallberg. We were traveling with our young son, and the owners were very friendly towards him and us, and had a very nice pack n play set up for him to sleep in. The kitchenettes in the apartment units are lovely, and the Pension Hallberg is probably one of the cleanest hotels/inns/etc that I have ever stayed in. Not a speck of dirt anywhere. And a number of the rooms have amazing views over the lake. I would recommend this place to anyone.

My friend booked a room for our coming trip next month in this hotel after reading the good reviews. While others may have a very good experience, I am not as fortunate.

I have another friend who decided to join us for the trip last minute so i emailed the hotel and ask if we can change it to a triple room or if we could add another bed. The person who replied my email was rude and had a lot of unrealistic expectations. She told me that i should have checked the hotel's website and know that the room that i have booked is too small to add a bed. I wasnt the one who booked the room, if i had known, i wouldn't have to ask her in the first place.

Her name is Eckbert Winkelmann. I'm not too sure if she is just a staff and that's the reason she isn't passionate about her job and was so rude. Perhaps the boss would be nicer like what i read on the reviews, i'm just unfortunate that the email is replied by her.. but i've decided not to stay in this hotel despite the great view and good reviews.

If you don't mind taking the risk of having such bad service, i guess its still alright to take the risk for the view but if service matters to you, i guess there are better hotels elsewhere.

The owner of the Pension is very nice. As what the others have said, this place is really great. Prices are quite reasonable as well.
