The entire decor of the hotel is tired and dated. The fixtures in the rooms i.e. (tv, radio and shower) were either non-functional or working intermittently. Things that look good on spec (i.e. conference facilities, gym, kitchenette) are either a single piece of equipment in a damp-smelling basement or non-existent. My parents had forwarded the payment weeks in advance via one account shown on the hotel's pamphlet, yet the owner claimed until the last day that no payment had been received and almost collected a second payment until he finally discovered that the payment had gone in weeks ago, while he had in vain searched for it in his second bank account. By this time my elderly parents were so beside themselves with worry about the proof of payment, the threat of having to pay again and their general travel anxiety that the whole relaxation of having stayed in a cosy location across from the nice Strandbad (open air beach and bath with hot pools) was almost obliterated. We love and know Baden bei Wien and we will certainly find a different location for our next stay. If you are just going to stay for a few days and have no special needs this location is fine enough, the hosts are friendly and the breakfast is very basic, but ok, but do check your bill!
