“Extras cost dearly and personnel surprises you (neg)”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Value for money is OK only if you just use the room . Parking is EUR 12.50/day, which is a lot for a middle class hotel. They have a swimming pool. It is almost creepy dark. If you want a bathrobe: costs EUR 5.00. Internet was confirmed free of charge in the lobby. It appeared it was only 30 minutes, after 30 minutes or in the room it was EUR 6.00/hour.
Everything was topped by my experience in the restaurant: While guests were having dinner personnel were carrying chairs and tables through the restaurant!

“Perfectly adequate but not wonderful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

We stayed at the Burgenland for four nights during the Haydn Festival. It's location was convenient. The hotel itself is fairly featureless and the rooms much like any others in this type of hotel - possibly a bit larger. The reception and bar staff were excellent and very helpful in answering our queries. We ate in the bar and the food was very good. Breakfast ws perfectly adequate if not exciting. We had a good bathroom but the toilet could have done with a good scrub and smelled a bit. The bath and basins were cleaned very well. On one day our bedroom was not cleaned at all. At 160€ a night we felt it was a bit expensive. The hotel had organised our festival tickets and they were waiting for us when we arrived. It didn't help that there was building work going on across the square which started quite early in the morning.

Room Tip: We believe rooms overlooking the park would be better than the ones we had overlooking the square.

“Excellent value with a master chef in the kitchen”

Booked 2 double rooms for 1 night at short notice and obtained a special rate. The rooms were very clean, well eqipped and comfortable. The restaurant that night was busy with a large tour group eating a buffet style meal. We were seated separately and offered the menu. The service was exemplary, meals were served all together and in a timely manner, and the quality of the meals was outstanding. It was in fact one of the best meals we had eaten in 2 weeks. The only down side was that internet was not free, but the rest of the stay more than made up for this.

“WIFI fees are 1/2 as much as the room fee!”

If you are planning to use any internet during your stay in Eisenstadt, DO NOT stay here: my Internet bill for four nights came to EUR 170 EUROS!

Absolutely extortionate and the staff manager is unapologetic, saying that is what Swisscom charges the Hotel. Get another service provider for heaven's sake!

The room walls are also very thin, so it makes for a rough night of sleep if you have room neighbors.

Any value in the room goes out the window with the extortionate internet fee of 33 EUROS PER DAY UNLIMITED USE!

Room Tip: Make sure to find another hotel nearby instead!

“A hotel that falls short of expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2008

We spent two nights at Hotel Burgenland so we could go to concerts for the Haydn festival at the Esterhazy Palace. It is a characterless modern pile at the end of a delightful pedestrianised street about three hundred yards or so downhill from the palace where the concerts happen. So it is convenient and there is nothing really wrong with the hotel if you feel at home in a characterless modern pile. The room was like those anywhere in the world in other modern hotels. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom well equipped. Luckily the temperature which two days before we arrived had been 30 degrees celsius had reduced during our stay because our room was not air conditioned and we were able to open the windows to cool the room off after the sun had gone round. Breakfast was OK but not any better than that. If you go to Eisenstadt there is probably no other hotel to stay in, so Hotel Burgenland 's monopoly in the town probably accounts for its falling short.

  • Liked — it was reasonably efficient
  • Disliked — its soullessness
