very comfortable hotel within easy walking distance of main attractions, but with free hotel transport and efficient local bus service, even if you don't want to walk , getting arround is easy.So it's not on casino square, but that is reflected in the very reasonable room tarrif. The staff are very helpful and the room was clean and of reasonable size.Would recommend king sized bed on high floor. The breakfast included in the tarriff and was good, similar to most 4 star London hotels. My wife and I have stayed in numerous hotels arrond the world and in most cases you get what you pay for, in the case of this hotel it represented good value.

Room Tip: High floor, king bed,

“Non Smoking Room Smells Like Cigarette!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I booked the hotel for the New Year, there was not many options, but with the price and stars (plus the old photoshoped photos) I expected better! But what I did NOT expect was to book a hotel and a non smoking room that smells like (heavily) cigarette!

They did put a strong spray, which did not make it better! Plus the bathroom tiles were mold dirty (black), which shows bad caring!
However concierge was really good and the location is close to a great restaurant! (Beef Bar), the Prince Car Museum and Port Hercule (all the other the car takes you).
I would NOT recommend anyone staying there! (left even with an allergy due to the room maintenance)

Room Tip: No room. Avoid this hotel, badly kept rooms.

Dear Guest, We are sorry to hear about your bad experience in our hotel. It is difficult to avoid some careless guests to smoke inside the room and not outside on the terrace and we apologize for the inconvenience. We have forwarded your comments onto the General Housekeeper for a thorough check up of the bathrooms. Although a continued maintenance is done, it is our duty to check that it is correctly carried out. Best regards. C. Drollet

“Great experience, staff were amazing, will definitely return - 5 stars from me!”

Visited the Columbus in June 2011 for a week long trip for my best friends 21st. There were 3 adults and 2 kids so we had two rooms - one for my friend and I and one for her mum and the two kids. We had a junior suite facing the sea and the heliport and her mum had a room down the hall facing the rose garden. Upon checking in the staff were amazing. They took all our bags, checked us in very quickly and gave us lots of information about the place. My friend and I loved our room, we could see yachts coming in to dock and we'd heard bad things about the noisy heliport but even though we were right next to it and could even watch the helicopters land it wasn't noisy and caused us no problems. Our balcony was perfect for having a glass of champagne in the evening and watching the boats go by. We shared a double bed which was very comfortable and the view in the other room was beautiful too. The bathroom was very nice with free toiletries provided and two big soft, fluffy white robes to use. Perfect. The hotel is in a great location. We used the buses and trains a lot however a couple of times the concierge gave us a lift into town for a reasonable tip and they are so friendly, teaching my friend and I some French phrases and advising us the best places to go to party! The supermarket is 5 minutes away, perfect for stocking up on champagne however we did drink in the hotel bar a fair bit. Pascal who works in the bar is the best thing about the place. He knew his drinks well and was hilarious, informative and made us feel right at home. We had breakfast every morning, dinner once or twice and both were very good. We called room service for lunch one day - the hotel do a great croque monsieur and fries. The pool was clean and very nice. The staff went all out to make sure we had a great time, especially Pascal and the concierge guys! Will definitely return in the future!

“Good Price Great Location”

Stayed here in October as the first part of my honeymoon with my wife. A little tough to get to but not a big deal. The hotel is in a really good location. We were able to wal to everything; the marinas, the casino all within walking distance. The hotel itself was really nice as well. Staff was very helpful and I believe upgraded our room as they knew it was our honeymoon. The room itself was pretty good. The only issue was that there was no exhaust fan in the restroom. So when you took a shower it steamed up the entire place. Great views of the ocean and the restaurant and bar lookied really nice as well but didnt try them. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: ask for an ocean view

“Poorly Maintained Hotel, but Mgr Saved the Day”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

When we checked in, the receptionist gave us an upgrade to a Seaview room, which was nice as it was Christmas Eve.

However, when we arrived to the room, it was obvious the years had taken its toll on the room. The carpet were torn in several places, the bed was badly scratched, the balcony walls had several large holes in them, and generally did not look like a hotel in Monaco at all.

We spoke with the receptionist who was not at all helpful and insisted to speak with the Duty Manager, who then arranged for us changed to a different room (bigger, no seaview), which was in a livable condition.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your sincere comments and detailed appreciation. We can only apologize for the poor state of the first room you got, we are trying to maintain the hotel general state with a regular maintenance scheme. Fortunately the Duty Manager was able to give you a more suitable room and therefore ensure you enjoy the rest of your stay. with best regards. C. Drollet
