I've stayed here for a convention several times over the past few years, and love the location. It's easy to walk around Monaco using the Fairmont as a base, the views are lovely, and the sea view rooms face east so the sunrises over the sea are spectacular.
The rooms are standard sizes, don't expect lots of space, with the normal desk, chair, bed and flat screen TV. Bathrooms are split washing area/WC and are OK.
Don't settle for anything other than a sea view room or you'll be seriously disappointed. These have balconies with sliding doors you can move out onto with sunlounger and small table and chairs.
The beds are fabulously comfortable.
Although the decor in reception and common areas is fairly plush, once you get onto the room levels the decoration with the striped carpets and porthole window room doors is tacky. You don't feel you're in a luxury hotel.
We ate in the "Argentin" restaurant. Beware because this is pricey! and the food is not gourmet. Overall, the hotel is expensive for what it is, but then you'd expect to be paying a premium in Monaco, anyway. Just make sure you check that there are no conventions or big meetings being held there during your stay.
One final point: the staff in this hotel are excellent. Service is top-notch, friendly without being over familiar, nothing is too much trouble.
