This was my second stay at Le Meridien - first one was in late 2008 I guess. During this second stay, I thought that the staff was somewhat more warmful and welcoming than 3 years ago, especially at the front desk. Better plumbery too (used to take ages to get some warm water up the 7th level, not a problem anymore). Reminiscent and serious downsides: standard rooms are rear rooms with a large avenue passing by, and windows are poorly insulated, which is odd for an hotel with that standard - this is an issue because of the very topography of Monte Carlo. Don't expect escaping the noise if you are in the upper levels: the avenue is quite surelevated actually and basically in front of the balconies of the 6-8th levels. Being waken up by Porsche Cayenne's or Ferrari's, rather than by garbage trucks, don't help much when it's 2 a.m. and you just need to sleep. A couple of other remarks (which are not specific to Le Meridien Beach Plaza since this seems to be a general policy of the brand): making the WiFi available for 8 euros per hour is nothing but outrageous in 2012. I don't want to sound cheap, but free access to the internet should be the rule today, and WiFi is quite useful in Monaco with moody mobile phone connections. Similarly, 32 euros for valet parking sounds overpriced, especially when public parking in Monaco (the nearest being just in front of the hotel's main entrance, by the way) are at 13 euros a day. Having said that, the breakfast is still great with a very friendly staff, and the pool just kills. Overall, this is nicely located hotel with private beach, trendy lifts, but somewhat overpriced and quite noisy rooms, as long as the windows are not replaced.
